Midway's canned Hero turns up on ex-staffer's site

The ghosts of what might have been are rattling their chains at Midway. A single piece of concept art for the ill-fated Hero has surfaced, revealing a lone protagonist amidst a devastated metropolis.

Midway's impressive portfolio of properties is still being sold off following the company's spectacular 2009 meltdown.

Many well-known IPs like Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam have found comfortable homes elsewhere, but less popular or one-off titles are either unwanted or stashed away in publisher's vaults.

Orphans like Hero, which never made it past early production, are the worst off of the lot. All that's left to mark its passing is this swordsman, forever alone among the ruins, found on ex-staffer Stephan Martinere's portfolio. Fitting, really.

Martinere's stash also turned up a couple of gems of far less haunted concept art from Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. Check out his site here.

Thanks, Siliconera.
