Rumour - New SSX in development at EA Canada, will bring the series "back to its roots"

ssx 2

Dear Santa: if true, this would be the greatest Christmas present ever. Signed, us.

Kotaku's rumouring that a new SSX for PS3 and 360 is in the making at EA Canada, and has been in development for two years.

The report claims the new title will bring the series "back to its roots". This makes us very giddy.

It'll also use the controls found in Skate, with  the right stick being used for tricks. Most of the development team for SSX is also said to be from the Skate team.

It's been three years since we've seen a proper SSX title appear on the market with SSX Blur on Wii, although SSX On Tour was the last title to appear on either PlayStation or Xbox formats.

And just last month, recent domain registrations from EA seemed to indicate further a new SSX was incoming.

Only a hunch, but this may be what "The Planet" teaser for this weekend's VGAs is referring to. We'll find out then.

Until then, get your salt and stuff, but we badly need a new SSX in our lives. Let this be it. Please?
