No playable vehicles in Arkham City, confirms Rocksteady

arkham city 2

Rocksteady’s confirmed in the latest issue of gamesTM that there will be no playable vehicles in Batman: Arkham City.

“There aren’t any playable vehicles in the game,” said Rocksteady boss, Sefton Hill.

“What we’ve really focused on is Batman himself. We see him as the ultimate vehicle.”

And there you have it. Batman: Arkham City gets its public world premiere at the VGAs on December 11.

Game’s out next fall for PS3, 360 and PC.

Thanks, ArkhamCity.

Why is it good news? I really don’t want this to be a next Gran Theft Batman, but…

How about Batmobile? :D

Tacked-on vehicle segments always suck.

Very good. Focus on what this game is, we don’t need half-baked gimmics.

I dont think something as iconic as the batmobile is a gimmick if its done right.

I personally think its playing it too safe without any other genre throw in if done right.

Shame.

@9 Fair point I guess, but the Batmobile whilst iconic isn’t essential. Even in the comics & films its only used really for a brief car chase here & there. Once you start skulking & swinging through the dark alleyways & rooftops of Gotham you’ll soon forget about the car (though chicks dig the car) :D

Good, keep vehicle in LARGE open world games, racers & warfare game.
I don’t want them to cut the quality of the game to make it big enough to properly support vehicles.

Driving could be good as mini-game or QTE during the game.

Very good news in my book too, driving segments practically always feel unnessecary and no fun in games like these.

Things this game also doesn’t need:
1) mini-games
2) QTEs

I wouldn’t mind seeing some DOA inspired costume dlc for Catwoman & Harlequin…*cough*
