The recently relaunched Good Old Games is to sell CD Projekt RPG The Witcher II when it releases next May, according to EG.

An offcial announcement is due at a Witcher II press conference in Poland tonight.

It’s also expected to run DRM-free.

The service has only focused on retro-only titles since it began in 2008. Obviously, that’s now going to change with W2.

This type of move was also inevitable: CD Projekt also created and run GOG as well.

The Witcher II was confirmed for a May 17, 2011 date earlier this week, with its collector’s edition getting out afterwards.

    Good stuff, DRM free even!

Lets hope they have a pre-install stage before release day or its going to get ugly.

Emm, it’s kinda wrong – Witcher 2 is not old, it’s still unclear if it’s good… But hey, since CD Projekt has it’s own store they won’t miss the opportunity, like Valve with HL2.
It’ll be interesting to see how profitable a new DRM-free game will be.

Is the absence of the The Witcher on GOG presently an admission of sorts?

EG is talking BS I suspect. I’m calling it now: the FIRST Witcher game will be released on GOG to celebrate the release of part 2. EG probably used some random Polish source and the facts got lost in (babelfish-)translation.

I’ll be back to post ‘I told you so’ when this is confirmed :)

No DRM, excellent news. This gives The Wicher 2 a plus compared to Dragon Age 2
