Bloodline: Champions dated, trailer details Astronomer

Can’t wait for DotA2? You’ll be playing this within two months.

Funcom told EG today that Bloodline Champions will release “either in late December or early January”.

The company’s also released a new trailer for the game, detailing the Astronomer class.

The Astronomer’s a healer with a primary melee attack.

The fantasy arena combat title looks to sit well with Diablo and DotA fans. It’s currently in beta.

It’s described thus by the developer: “Bloodline Champions is a PVP game with short, intense matches for up to ten players divided into two teams. Every player plays one of several different bloodlines with 7 unique abilities each.

“Different bloodlines in a set up complement eachother, different maps and gamemodes need different tactics, so good teamwork is a must for success.”

Look and see, courtesy of BigDownload.

Be warned, this is nothing like DotA or DotA clones. It’s more like WoW arenas or Guild Wars PvP. If you expect it to be similar to DotA, you’ll be disappointed. There are no levels, no items, no creeps, no towers, no autoattacks, no mana (everything has short CDs, 0.3s to 15s), every ability has to be aimed. It’s just 3v3 deathmatch (can be played 1v1-5v5, there are other modes too, like CTF and point control, but arena is the most played one). Basically WoW arenas without the bs and imbalance.
