That is, of course, assuming del Toro doesn’t decide to go all PETA and start freeing THQ’s cats from their respective bags again.
“He’s a gamer who wants to make a great game and has very interesting points of view and is partnered very closely with myself and my writing partner, Paul,” THQ core games head Danny Bilson said of filmmaker Guillermo del Toro during his IGDA Leadership Forum keynote.
He then added that THQ “will be announcing the game title and the studio and all of that on the VGA awards in about a month.”
The VGAs are, of course, hosted by cultural septic tank douchebag magnet male-focused television network Spike TV. They used to be all at once a mockery and validation of every negative stereotype gaming supposedly stands for, but in recent years, they’ve become surprisingly respectable – not to mention capable of spitting out rapid-fire videogame announcements in a way E3 only wishes it could.
Currently, the 2010 award show is set to run in “mid-December.” We, of course, will brave the horrors of Spike TV so you don’t have to. If we make it back? News! And if we don’t? Well, we don’t want to think about that.
