Interactive comic to bridge story between Mass Effect and PS3 version of ME2

Nathalie Edelmann, a moderator over on BioWare’s Social Network, has said the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 will compensate for the lack of a storyline connecting the first iteration of the game, considering it wasn’t released for the console.
According to Edelmann, per producer Casey Hudson, an interactive comic from Dark Horse will relay the events of Mass Effect before the second game came out, and it will allow the player to “make various choices that they’d normally make if they were able to play the first game”.
It was also revealed Kasumi’s: Stolen Memory, Overlord, and Lair of the Shadow Broker will be included on disc, along with a code allowing players to access all DLC published via the Cerberus Network will be included with the disc.
A new mission, which has about six hours of additional playtime, will also be made available to players.
Granted, it’s likely the information is accurate since the person posting is indeed a moderator on the German portion of the forums, but we’ll still send a mail just in case.
Mass Effect 2 on PS3 is slated for release in January.
Thanks: ScrawlFX, Gekidami.

Good. I hope that Interactive Comic is something like those Japanese visual novels, with sex included, yes. I can’t wait for Mass Effect 2 and others coming to out beloved PS3.

It’s a well known fact that this will be the definite version of Mass Effect 2 & about 19 times better than any other version on any other console/pc.

I just hope they get a better artist for this job. The comic wasn’t really well drawn.

Hey Lambda, ME1 should’ve taken first place, so don’t get upset, when PS gets some more content and polish half a year after ME2!

@ AHA
So no New 6 Hour First Mission then? I am confused, all the other news sites are reporting that it will in fact have a new 6 Hour mission? Did they translate the German wrong?

“I want also to touch on the ’6 hour exclusive mission’. This I believe is a communication error lost in translation. When we talk about 6 hours of content we are talking about what’s included exclusively “On Disc” (Kasumi, Shadow Broker, Overlord), The Interactive Back Story and the Cerberus Network Access. ”
Pretty straight forward.

As it seems there will be something exclusive in there
“Jesse Houston wrote

There will also be some DLC Bundles, such as the Aegis Pack as well as exclusive both Free and Paid DLC for all PlayStation 3 owners such as the Recon Operations Pack. More details about this will be released later.
I have to buy it again

Will this interactive Comic come on the disc or as a PSN download? The post implies that the choices you make will carry over into the game…

It would be better if they just ported ME1 to PS3 since it’better than that disappointing ME2, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen.

The game did an epic job on the X360 and will do the same on the PS3.
I haven’t played ME 2 or even the first game but i believe it’s a great game from the reviews and the rep it built up within the last 4 years or so.
I will be definitely trying this franchise out.Although i was never into it but i’ll give it a shot i know it worth it.

I wonder why they’re doing an interactive comic rather than just lumping together some videos of the first game and adding branch points to allow you to make your choices?

i wonder if that “new mission w/ 6 hours of playtime” will make it over to the 360&PC, but regardless i wonder what that new mission will be about, will it have some cool equipment in it, like a new weapon or armor customization pieces

there isnt a new mission, bioware confirmed yesterday. its just all the current DLC on the disc with the mass effect 1 interactive comic (great idea to get round the mass 1 exclusive bullshit imo)
