Oprah hands out Kinect units, audience goes beserk

oprah

Land of the free.

Kinect appeared on Oprah yesterday, and caused quite a stir. The motion sensor was given away to everyone in the crowd, in a similar fashion to Don Mattrick’s now-fabled 360 Slim hand-out at E3 this year.

The result? Watch the video below.

Kinect releases on November 4 in the US and November 10 in Europe.

OMG this is hilarious…It’s like giving my Mom a Kinect, she has NO CLUE…She thinks a Kinect is the name of a Car…So these ladies thought they were getting cars, until they thought about it…all they heard first was FREE..ROFL

Nah, people just love getting free stuff no matter what it is. You can bet nearly everyone there hadnt even heard of Kinect before this.

Also, they’re not just getting Kinects but 360′s to.

na freek is right.
on such shows the auddience gets told when to cheer and whatnot. at least in germany its like that. ive once been at one of those shows.

w/e: there are better ways to tell me to quit gaming than giving oprah a spot on a hardcore gaming blog.

and btw:
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.
FIX THAT FINALY!! thats my first comment since a few days, no way this is too quickly!

Did no one find the fact that, in the credits, the episode was sponsored by Xbox and Sony Music Entertainment to be slightly ironic :P

Well, at least we know that Kinect appeals to rednecks now.

OK. Kinect will sell because of that.

I know that after her Seal of Approval on the Wii. Wii started to sell.

She is very powerefull if something from her hands will have “seal of Approval”

Kinect will sell in the first weeks, after that? Nope.

@Gekidami, this is her LAST farewell season, after that she will make her own TV channel and will be a star again.

Estrogen overload!

Good to see Microsoft allaying concerns from the ‘core’ gamer community by.. ..putting their product on Oprah.

Words != Actions

lol, ain’t that the truth.

@ 4

Nah, she only anounced that her show would stop in 2011 or 2012. So basically her show will go on for two more years, how pathetic to anounce it so early, sigh.

@9

Right after the audience all got their Kinects, they went muddin’ in their 4×4′s, then stopped at Circle K to get a couple tins of wintergreen Grizzly for the armadilla shoot. They ran out while fishin’ for crawdads before they had to get ready for the Oprah taping.

@Madeira: Yeeehaawwww!

@17: Millions of dollars worth of publicity for the price of a couple of hundred 360s / kinects isn’t desperate, it’s smart marketing.

As an interesting observation…

I was up in Dublin today…

The PlayStation Move Experience Hub was almost completely empty. Barely anyone was in it.

The Kinect Experimental Centre, which was a quick walk down the road in Grafton Street, on the other hand… was constantly filled up with people.
