sonic

SEGA has said its working on a game to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Sonic, and it's called Sonic Anniversary.

The announcement is being attributed to SEGA marketing director Izaskun Urretabizkaia speaking at Gamefest 2010, , the game is chock full of level remakes from two decades worth of the blue one's games and includes a mix of both 2D and 3D environments.

Each level, comprised of some of the best ones in the series, will be receive an update, and will launch on DS, PSP, PS3, and Wii.

A release on PC and Xbox 360 has yet to be confirmed, but a 360 version will be likely.

SEGA has yet to make an official comment on the matter, thus the rumor tag in the post title. SEGA Spain has officially released a "no comment" statement to Spong.

We'll send a mail to the US office, then.

Thanks, D'toid (via Sonic Paradise).
