Mortal Kombat’s website countdown ends, goes live

TheMortalKombat.com is now live.
If you click on the link above, you will see the page without a countdown, and instead, links to the game’s Facebook page, links to the game’s YouTube page which has trailers and development diaries, along with how to follow the game on Twitter.
Yesterday, a tweet confirmed it as “Mortal Monday”, which will be every Monday from here on out.
“Lots of cool stuff in the works for MortalMonday. Kontent unlocking all day long. Be on the lookout”
Each Monday, the site will be updated in conjunction with Mortal Mondays.
Nothing is noted on the site regarding the rumoured MK HD compilation, though, it will showcase “five legendary characters” including Scorpion – who is the focus at the moment – , Sub-Zero and Mileena.
Check out the latest trailer here.
There’s no exact date for Mortal Kombat, or an official name just yet, but it’s expected sometime next year for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Lamest. Thing. Ever. Like, Mortal Kombat is actually drawing attention to how lame it is. Stupendous.

They are apparently having some issues uploading the the content that was to be revealed, the trailer’s not new. Things should be worked out in a while though.

I don’t get why these games don’t focus more on the sensation of impact.
If you look at boxing games like Fight Night or Ready to Rumble (Amazing boxing game for the Dreamcast) you’re basically rolling with every punch you get in, or take out.
I guess that’s a lot to ask from sidescrolling arcade beat ‘em ups, but it looks so silly to me with those guys violating the hell out of eachother, but having it look like they’re really just harmlessly bitchslapping one another.

That’s the point of a 2d fighting game. Its not suppose to be realistic but fluid unrealistic combos that are awesome to look at because they’re so fake. And the focus of impact is in the points where their punching/kicking the flesh off of one another. Its like looking for impact in street fighter.lol

@9 I’m not saying it should be realistic, I’m saying you should really feel it while you’re doing it.
They aren’t kicking the flesh off anyone, they’re just wincing a little, and then they’re back down, until the point where they start wobbling out of nowhere and get split in half.
I realize that back when Mortal Kombat originated, it was the only way of doing things technologically, but we’ve gone a bit further since then. I actually think Street Fighter IV does it better.

Hopefully we will get the Raiden wallpaper along with images from his in-game model and moves next week.

You want impact? How about this:

Do games like FN have this? Not even in their dreams

UPDATE: Ok, the actual site was supposed to go up today but it’s facing some technical difficulties. According to the new report from GameInformer, the new site includes pages for 5 fighters including Scorp, Subby and Mileena (And hopefully Raiden):
