Ex-sound creator "certain" Suzuki "wanted" Shenmue on "PS3 or Xbox"

Ex-Shenmue sound creator Osamu Murata has said he's "certain" creator Yu Suzuki "wanted" the series on either PS3 or 360.

His tweets come as it was announced last week Shenmue was coming back in the form of a game for the Japan-only service Mobage-Town, known as Shenmue Town.

Murata claims the new game is also not officially recognized by Sega, according to Andriasang, with it being made apparently as a joint venture by Mobage-Town creator Yahoo and another company formed by Suzuki.

"I'm certain that he [Suzuki] wanted to release Shenmue on PS3 or Xbox, he said.

"This is definitely not how Yu feels about Shenmue. The sound of the bikes, the sound of glass, the facial motion of kids, how the flags were made to stand, the walking motion, the running motion, the pursuit of beauty for the female characters. He worked so hard even if he would collapse or get sick."

He added: The Yahoo! Mobage Shenmue is not Sega. I'm not sure what will happen at the time of formal release, though. If it looks like it will sell, Sega will probably make it official."

If Shenmue III were to happen, Sega's said in the past it would be willing to trade an exclusivity deal on it for development funding.
