Silicon Knights working on X-Men: Destiny, teaser trailer released

Thursday, 7th October 2010 23:21 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Activision has announced a deal with Silicon Knights on a new Marvel game called X-Men: Destiny.

That’s about all that’s known at the moment, sorry to say. Platforms and a date weren’t forthcoming either, but at least a trailer was provided for the game, and it’s below courtesy of IGN.

See how many mutant silhouettes you can recognize.

Here’s a snippet from the press release:

The all-new original video game casts players as new mutant recruits in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny.

The release also said to visit the official website and to check out Hero HQ over on Facebook. However, there’s next to nothing mentioned through either link.

Maybe more will be revealed at NYC Comic Con which starts tomorrow.

We’re going to assume in the meantime it will be made available on all three consoles.

    You being serious?

They dug themselves a giant hole with that game and Microsoft gave them the boot. Now they are just trying to find work.

Pretty much identical to the idea ive been saying a game developer should do for years. The battle system for this should be like a tactical squad based type thing something like how the army operate. Anyone whos read an X men comic will know that the X men fight in a squad based team.

Make the school explorable as well full of secrets and easter eggs to other X men characters. Training in the danger room to level up is a must.

Ive got ideas for a Deadpool game as well lets hope someone also thinks of that.

I like Silicon Knights. They brought me some of my favourite games.

But the simple attachment of Activision to this deflates any excitement I could have possibly muster for this game, and this is coming from someone who has been an X-Men fan for over 15 years.

I’d love to see something like what you described as a downloadable title, but turn-based. I just think there is so much potential to plan environment/mutant power combos, traps, elemental matchups, teleport flanking, etc..

It could be a supremely tactical game. Kinda like a mutant combo-powered Laser Squad/X-com.

I’d buy the hell out of that puppy. Wont happen of course, but I can dream. :)
