Rock Band 3: Keyboard Bundles will not be sold for PS3 in North America

Harmonix has announced on its official forums that Keyboard Bundles for Rock Band 3 will not be available for PS3 in North America due to a “regional agreement”.
The bundle, which runs $129.99, will only be available for Wii and Xbox 360 in the US. European PS3 owners will still be able to get the Keyboard Bundle for all three systems.
Here’s the full statement on the matter:
You may have seen that retailers have taken down the Rock Band 3 keyboard/software bundle pre-orders for PlayStation 3. Unfortunately, this SKU will not be available in the U.S. (including Canada and Mexico) due to the agreement terms for the region. However, Mad Catz and MTV Games are working with those retailers that accepted pre-orders to enable them, if they choose, to honor those pre-orders placed prior to this change as soft bundles (separate discs and keyboards), at pre-order pricing. These retailers will have more details shortly.
Moving forward, the keyboard and Rock Band 3 software will continue to be available as stand-alone products for PlayStation 3 in the US. This does not affect European customers as the Rock Band 3 keyboard/software PS3 bundles will still be available in Europe. The Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii keyboard/software bundles are still available for pre-order.
In other words, if you pre-ordered the bundle for PS3, you should contact the retailer’s customer service department for instructions on what to do next.
Rock Band 3 is out October 26 in the US and October 29 for the rest of the world on DS, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360.

You can still get them separate.

WTF is this nonsense? I’m probably not going to get the keyboard anytime soon then, because you know it will cost more to get them separately…

After Gears 3 was put back to Autumn (fall for our American cousins) maybe Microsoft would do better securing some more first party studios or some proper exclusives, 2011 is looking rather thin, instead of spending millions securing packages and timed DLC. imo.

Just buy Rock Band 3 at Kmart get their $20 video game credit. Then purchase the keyboard separately and you end up $10 ahead compared to buying the bundle. They do not offer the coupon on the bundle. You can do this for either system.

Spot on mate.
I don’t care who does it, but regional exclusives are the barrel scraping class of obtaining exclusive content.

@14 totally agree.
Just plain stupid. Really, this ought to cross the line for unfair trading practices. I mean, I’m in Europe so whatever… but to indulge in this kind of silly exclusives is simply a denial of service tactic rather than actually offering more yourself.
And shame on Harmonix for even entertaining the deal.

@15 Unfair trading practice? Not even close. A company is entirely at liberty to decide for itself where it wants to sell its own products, unless there’s been some sort of new law that says “You *have* to sell your product here”.
Dear lord.
I think this is a weird move, but it’s only *one* bundle. You can still get them separately, so I don’t see what the big deal is.
