Dead Space 2 multiplayer beta videos show both sides

This honestly looks amazing.
GT’s posted two clips of the ongoing closed multiplayer beta of Dead Space 2, show both humans and necromorphs in action.
Even while you’re playing as them, necromorphs are still shit-scaring.
This looks like it’s on to a winner. That’s why anyone heading to EG Expo tomorrow should be playing it. Keza explains why here.
Get the videos below.
Dead Space 2 releases on January 28 for PC, 360 and PS3, with the latter getting a limited edition with a HD, Move-enabled version of Dead Space: Extraction.

Does it look amazing? I’m not sure. Looked to me like the necromorph play was frustrating as hell, and kind of boring.

Hmmm – gotta agree that looks fairly awful. The little guys swiping at humans – there is barely any indication that you’ve hit or done damage.

This game absolutely, positively did NOT need multiplayer. Looks….well….lame!

Blimey, a textbook example of how to take something tense, strategic and atmospheric and turn it into a cookie-cutter bland-o-shooter.

@2 I agree. They will really need to think of something to balance the sides or no-one will play the necromorph’s and the MP will die. The nercomorphs should spawn quicker or re-grow limbs perhaps, either way I think the SP will still be well worth the day one purchase

@2
I’ve heard a few people say that its abit unbalanced for the Necros. Apparently theres no tutorial for them either so i’m guessing that plays a part to.

I think Assassins Creed Brotherhood has shown that multiplayer can be added into a game well. This on the other hand looks painful

They should have done a co-operative mode instead, like Halo’s Firefight or Gears of War’s Horde. That would have worked amazing as a multiplayer for this game, but this don’t look so great. Fighting off hordes of Necro’s as a team would have been perfect for this.

They just need to more clearly define the Necros different powers, just like Special Infected. That way there would be less just charging at the team and more tactical play.
It looks like the environments just does not play to the Necros strengths either, being funneled down a corridor towards a mass of waiting weapons. Bleh.

Damn, I wouldn’t know that from the first Dead Space. They even kept the shitty camera angle.
Like others are saying, creature versus human multiplayer is probably one of the hardest things to balance out. I liked the whole griefing-concept of L4D, but a straight fight? Hmmm. Natural Selection looks more fun.

Buying it for the Single Player. Multiplayer mode is just a side bonus

I’ve played the beta and it really isn’t as unbalanced as you all seem to think. In fact, I seem to win about an equal percentage as humans or necromorphs. I actually prefer playing as the necromorphs. Two of them can respawn as soon as they die, its only the puker that has to wait 5 seconds to spawn. The game definitely could have used a little tutorial on how to play as the necros but its not too hard to get the hang of it.
What I’ve really noticed though is that if either side actually sticks together and works as a team, they can win pretty easily.
@14 The environment actually works to the necros advantage I’d say since the can spawn at any of the vents and the humans only have specific points. You don’t have to be funneled down a corridor, its very easy to set up an ambush.
@8 The humans only get one stasis shot per charge and its somewhat rare for a killed necro to drop a refill so its not as bad as you’d think. Plus, its really, really hard to hit the pack with stasis. Really hard.
