Itagaki developing Devil's Third with "yet unknown hardware" in mind

devil's third

Microsoft and Sony have all but faked their own deaths on the spot in order to avoid talking about the next-next-gen of gaming consoles.

Valhalla Entertainment founder Tomonobu Itagaki, however, isn't waiting around for silly little things like details and tangible hardware.

"We're developing it so that it can be brought to as yet unknown hardware as well. Specifically, the various areas of technology are scalable," Itagaki told Impress Watch (translation via Andriasang).

So he means the new handhelds, right? Devil's ThirDS, maybe? Or perhaps he's working on a little something for the PSP 2? Actually, Itagaki has his sights set even higher.

"More than that," he said when asked about the 3DS and PSP 2, "although I can't say this easily because I don't have any information, it's possible that Nintendo could release a higher end console. Something like that."

Devil's 3D?

In the same interview, the ex-Team Ninja head mulled over the possibility of trading in his infamous shades for a pair of 3D glasses.

"It's not a game that's build around it, but I'd like to at least offer it as an option," he said. "I know we can make it compatible on PS3. Xbox 360 too can also be made compatible if we do it side by side."

The game's scheduled to drop in 2012, and we'd be counting down the seconds until then if it weren't for the whole possible extinction of all life thing.
