UK charts – Halo: Reach becomes 5th biggest UK launch ever

reach 2

Halo: Reach has become the fifth biggest launch of a game in the UK ever, easily becoming this week’s number one, Chart-Track’s said this morning.

The Bungie shooter joins Modern Warfare 2 on 360 and PS3, GTA San Andreas on PS2 and GTA IV on 360 among the ranks of biggest UK launches ever.

It goes into the top spot having outsold Halo 3′s launch number by 20,000 units and Halo 3: ODST’s by almost 200,000. No exact sales numbers were provided, though.

The launch of PlayStation Move also sees Sports Champions enter at number two, with Mafia II at three.

Toy Story 3 and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands round off the top five.

The top ten for the week ending September 18 is below. Laat week’s data is here.

SHO… actually, no. Not a shock at all. :-D

They must be practically giving The Forgotten Sands away now.

Really impressed with Sports Champions. Was wondering what would be a decent launch for that game, and imagined Sony would be really pleased with ninth or tenth spot. Move’s done much better out of the gate than I imagined.

Sports Champions is also really good. Much better than reviews have given it credit. The AI is fantastic on the harder difficulty tiers.

Of course, congrats to Halo. I’m sure it will spend some time at the top spot.

It’s probably all down to sales of the bundle pack, although that would suggest Move would have done a lot better then expected.

Still, it’s a fantastic title to pack-in anyways. Addicted to Disc Golf. Well done, SCEE.

Sports Champions doesn’t come in the bundle pack though does it? It’s only available stand-alone here in Europe.

Really? I thought it was in the pack with the controller and the Eye?

Edit: Nope, not officially anyways. My bad.

There was never any doubt that Ralo would hit that top spot. Glad to see it has outdone Halo 3, and looking forward to seeing the worldwide figures.

Reach deserves a good long stay at the top too, it’s easily the most comprehensive and polished shooter to ever grace a console, and it’s the nicest goodbye present Bungie could have possibly given to it’s fans.

It’s got a good chance at cracking 10 million sales, and really deserves to.

@Gadzooks!
What is this Ralo of which you speak? ;)

@3
Also very impressed with Sports Champions. It lacks the charm of the Wii Sports titles but the games have so much more control and depth to them.

(edit just realised Ralo is probably some amalgamation of Halo and Reach I was unaware of)

@DrDamn

Sorry, I’d been to a fancy dress party and still had my Scooby Doo head on when I typed that.
