Halo: Reach PR stunt sees Spartan jetpack in Trafalgar Square

reachfly

Seriously. The guy flies.

To celebrate the imminent launch of Halo: Reach, Microsoft dressed a man up as a Spartan and got him to fly around London’s Trafalgar Square with a jetpack.

This is a statement of fact. You can see it in the HD video below.

Brit Xbox boss Steve McGill looks a little taken aback by the whole affair, saying the stunt was “loud” and “fun”.

Reach reviews went live yesterday and the verdict on Bungie’s last Halo title’s unanimous: it’s good.

Look. You’ll be able to buy the shooter from midnight tonight.

haha that was cool but he did look a tiny bit embarrased after he landed, I would have thought they would have done this at midnight but maybe darkness makes it a bit too suicidal.

My copy has just arrived and I work from home…can feel a power cut coming on.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a fucking flying MS PR guy. Shoot him!

5 seconds of flying must be too much for the Microsoft wallet.

MS PR guy: “That was incredible!!11 That was so LOUD!11 ……, flying around Trafalgar square and landing between the two spartans. Incredible, amazing!!111 This was a great opportunity, great photo moment, great fun, as exactly is what Halo:Reach is all about. I think people will going to like it when they are going to get it tonight!”

So 5 second of flying is what Reach is about?

I wonder what the MPG ratio is on that thing.

Also, that clip reminded me of the GTA San Andreas mission where you steal the jetpack from the military base. Jetpacks rock!

PS: I am not posting comments too quickly and I will not slow down!

A free jetpack is included with every copy of “Halo Preach – Limited Edition”. Amen.

@Callum
Single player stuff is fine to play now. Not so sure about MP – it looked like it was completely disabled when I had a quick go at lunchtime.

some of you are underestimating how much money & effort goes into that jetpack, granted it’s unessecary, but nevertheless, still amazing, i long for the day when we can all travel like that.

You’ll never be able to fly with that jetpack. It only has a feul capacity for about 20 seconds of flight. That’s why you never see it do more then that, it simnply can’t.
Been around for a while too, an earlier version was in a James Bond movie.

We will never have Jetpacks shaped like that commercially available for a number of reasons(mainly limitations on fuel capacities on a device that small), Killzone’s kind of jetpacks seem more realistic, but we’re probably 30 years away from it becoming commercially available.

I’d always preferred the idea of the incredibly safe-looking Skycar, personally – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElS9BKSsezw

People are bad enough at driving regular cars. I can’t say the prospect of putting those same drivers in something that could potentially fall on my house has me brimming with enthusiasm.

Do MS only employ fat chavs these days ? Have a shave and eat less cakes ffs !

I guess it’s probably a deliberate ploy to make their customers identify more with the company ;)

You woulden’t fly the Moller sky car yourself, it would work via autopilot and predefined air highways. You’d select a route and off it goes.
Asuming ofcourse it ever makes it beyond the prototype stage.
