Report: Online UK retailers break Halo: Reach street date

haloreach1

It looks as though some UK retailers have broken the street date for Halo: Reach.

Seems like this always happens with a Halo title, doesn’t it?

According to a report over on CVG, folks on the site’s forums claim to have received paid-for retail copies from online sites The Hut and Zavvi, with some even claiming retailers on High Street are already handing copies out as well.

One CVG reader even sent in a picture showing his Halo: Reach copy with a packing receipt from The Hut.

While some folks may have gotten a copy three-days in advance, anything achieved in-game will be for naught – Bungie plans on resetting all in-game credits come September 14, the day it “officially” releases, said CVG.

If any of you happened to get your copy a bit early as well, give us a shout in the comments below.

No, do more research. They’re not resetting “all in-game achievements”. That’s misleading. The Xbox 360 has these things called “achievements”, you know? They’re resetting any of the in-game “credits” earned. The in-game currency.

They were selling it in HMV in Meadowhall (Sheffield FYI), and I thought about buying it; but then I realised I really don’t give a f*ck.

Its abit lame that they’re resetting stats for people that got legit copies of the game, but sure, whatever. Atleast they arent banning people this time.

@1 Just going by what the original article said. Which said “achievements”, thus the “per CVG” part. However, I did change it to “credits” until I get a response to the mail I sent Microsoft about all this “street breaking” and “resetting stuff”. Likely, there will not be a response until Monday.

In the age of digital/online fun – getting games early is no longer a benefit. I had one of the Total War games 2 days early from Amazon but couldnt play it until it was officially released here.

This was despite it already being released in the US. Oh well. boo hoo

Ah right, reporting a website’s news as news. 100% taken as gospel factual news. Good journalism-ing.
