R.U.S.E. reviews get rounded up

Saturday, 11th September 2010 21:09 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

R.U.S.E. was released in the US earlier this week, and hit European stores yesterday.

Want to find out how it’s scoring with everyone? Then check out the round-up below the break.

Looks like most outlets are giving it rather good scores.  As usual, if you have any to add, please do so in the comment section below.

R.U.S.E. is out now for PS3, 360 and PC.

Played it. It was enjoyable RTS, but nothing special or new. It’s ok. Liked that you need to use your brain sometimes. Campaign is a little bit boring.

But the real gem this month is Amnesia: the Dark Descent. Great game, can’t understand why you won’t do review round up for this piece of good art. True Horror game, for sake.

Personally i found the console demo to be unplayable because it used a pad, Ubi have used the worst pad controls for a RTS i have ever seen. The C&C games on PSX and Halo Wars put it to shame.
Its really dumb the PC version (and maybe the PS3 version using Move) dosnt get its own score from most sites.

That said, i might pick it up at some point and give it a try with Move.

Doesnt take much to get decent review scores today. RUSE is dull and slow. There are lots of outstanding RTS games out there like World in Conflict, Universe at War(albeit with a clunky UI but brilliant factions), Company of heroes and even the original Dawn of War.

“to be unplayable because it used a pad”

thats it. Playing RTS on consoles really is unplayable with pad.

No they arent all unplayable. I’ve played plenty of RTS’ on PSX and they all worked perfectly, same goes for Halo Wars. Ubi have just went with an utterly retarded gameplay for this.

@5 I played Warcraft II on PSX and Command and Conquer 1: Red alert.

Warcraft II played too slow and Command and Conquer decent.

Halo Wars is slow. The problem that with the pad it is slow to play with the controller.

Cheers for the link, Steph :)

In case anyone’s wondering, the reason we and many other sites only reviewed the Xbox 360 version obviously has everything to do with some colossal journalistic conspiracy against PlayStation Move, and sweet Fanny Adams to do with the fact that we were only sent the Xbox version to review. Just so everybody’s 110% clear…

@3 – are you really surprised reviews are always so high?

    @ 10

I can point you to websites claiming Prince Charles has four testicles on the web I suspect…. would you believe that?

I’ve reviewed games before and have played the Ruse demo, it’s a decent game (not perfect) but a good strategy game worth an 8+ imo.

Either way, I don’t think it’s entirely fair for the author to review this without Move (with regards the PS3 version).

Having worked for a publisher who does just that – no I am not. What DOES shock me, is how people/players still believe reviews.

Its become a major business from ‘underground’ deals and promises to get a few extra points on the score. Look no further than gamespot and the whole Eidos/Kane and Lynch affair

Tried the demo of this over the weekend and it’s not bad I suppose, but it’s not for me. I got bored before the end of the demo.
