SEGA announces Yakuza 5 as Ryu ga Gotoku of the End

yakuza5

SEGA announced Yakuza 5 today as Ryu ga Gotoku of the End.

We’re assuming the title means The Last Yakuza, or Yakuza: The End, or something along those lines, but what the hell do we know anyway? We’re just guessing really.

First teased back in March, the game is expected to get a formal reveal at TGS next week, which runs September 16-19.

The official site for the game was also updated today, complete with a new logo and PC and Twitter themes.

No word on a release date yet, let alone one outside of Japan, but here’s hoping we’ll hear more next week.

Hard to imagine Sega would end the series. Its probably their most profitable right now.

It’s “Yakuza: To The End” – that’s according to Kotaku’s Jap editor, Ashcraft.

It makes me sad that I couldn’t get into the first game. They are the perfect recipe for my gaming taste buds, but somehow the chef’s style of cooking didn’t settle well with my stomach.

Well, the end of a shitty series. Nothing to see here.

@5 I guess that’s Japan’s way of saying, like, Batman Forever? or Chocolate Forever? or Playa’s to the end dawg?

That’s what I’m assuming anyway ;)

@8 SEGA has not said yet it’s the last in the series, and we’ve heard nothing of the sort yet. TGS next week will net more information, we reckon.

Still, I mailed SEGA just for more general information on it. Likely, they will stay mum until after TGS though.

We’re getting the 4-th game only in April next year, I wonder when we’ll get this one…
Anyway, do want. Yakuza series is a masterpiece.

I think the series is called Like a Dragon in Japan, so Like a Dragon to The End.

I really should continue with Yakuza 3, it’s been awhile. Its awesome that they anounced Y4 for the USA as well. If it doesn’t come to Europe, i’ll just import it.

Well, Yakuza 3 was different from first games with this orphanage and missions related to it. But I liked it still..
