PS3 Blu-ray 3D firmware update hitting next month

Sony announced today at its IFA 2010 press event a firmware update for PS3, which will allow 3D Blu-ray playback.
It’s set to arrive next month.
According to Engadget, it is expected around 30-days from now, putting it around October 1 if our limited calculations are correct.
Still, this should make those planning on purchasing Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and others in 3D, rather pleased.
Providing, of course, they own a 3D-capable television.
More through the link.

Nice. Might jump on the 3D train next year. More for movies than gaming, though. Although Motorstorm Apocalypse is looking rather good.

Sony announces a new PSN music service today called Qriocity and you should probably be able to play music in the background on demand.

Just don’t buy Alice in Wonderland, both a crap movie and crap 3D effects.

That pic of Johnny Depp looks like the ill-begotten offspring between a demon and Carrot Top.

AVATAR FTW!
But i prefer the CGI films in 3D as they usually have the best effects. Cant wait till How to Train your Dragon hits 3D bluray…..well, i’d actually have to be able to afford a 3D tv first lol.

That’s one of the reasons why I’m selling my PS3. Sony seem determined to push thier hardware agenda at the expense of the gamer.
They still havent got the basics right.

cross-game chat is overrated, if you really want to talk to a mate who’s not even playing the same game, use Facebook or Windows Live Messenger or whatever.
What i want is a better interface, i want to be able to click on a mate & join his game without having to be invited, just little touches like that would be sweet, would also like if Sony started supporting PS2 games on PSN & they could brand their own USB stick for the emulation on the newer models, hackers can do it, so it kind of feels the people who do things legitimately get left behind.

…believe it or not, not everyone sits at their TV playing a game with their laptop / PC right next to them. Not to mention that typing messages when you’re supposed to be gaming is a bit shit.
(I could have sort of understood it had you said skype / vent etc)
