Guilded wars: Guild Wars passes 6.5 million sales mark, “when it’s done” is the word on GW2

As it turns out, quite a few people are fans of this whole “not having to pay a subscription fee” thing. Who’da guessed?

Speaking with Joystiq, an NCSoft rep pegged Guild Wars’ current sales total at over 6.5 million, which, using our impressive knowledge of big numbers, conclusively proves that the game’s sold – prepare for some incredibly scientific jargon – a lot.

According to the rep, NCSoft has Europe to plant a sloppy wet kiss on for about half those sales, with Germany’s fan base being large enough that it’d probably take the smooch without any weird looks or confusing nights of soul-searching.

Guild War’s lost a bit of its shine over the years, however. There’s no doubting that. But hey, that’s what Guild Wars 2 is for! So, when’s it dropping? Well, while the official word from the top is 2011, the rep pulled out an encyclopedia of game development cliches and pointed to the oldest one in the book: “when it’s done.” NCSoft, the rep explained, is well aware that an MMO as unique as Guild Wars 2 can’t show up on shelves undercooked.

So wait, no subscription fee and no day-one deluge of crash-fixing patches? What kind of MMO is this?

“As it turns out, quite a few people are fans of this whole “not having to pay a subscription fee” thing.” no not exactly. ppl r retarded by nature. they want to pay because they either think that the game couldn’t live without their money or they will get more updates. most of the times this is false. but u can’t fuck with a stupid person. neither should u. u could never win.

6.5 is a decent number though I wish they would have sold more. they deserve it for making such a fantastic game.

“NCSoft has Europe to plant a sloppy wet kiss on for about half those sales, with Germany’s fan base being large enough that it’d probably take the smooch without any weird looks or confusing nights of soul-searching” true. hardcore pvp is dominated by european guilds. most americans r just too stupid to understand this game and the japanese and koreans, well, while they r as smart as us they just don’t have enough ppl.

as for what bdh said “anet is one f best game devs in the industry”, well, let’s just say that for once I actually agree with him. :)

“So wait, no subscription fee and no day-one deluge of crash-fixing patches? What kind of MMO is this?” the answer is the same as if u would have asked what kind of FPS is BFBC2. ;)

WoW “Mist of Pandaria” far exceeds what. These are accounts that remain inactive. WoW is much better and people pay per month, which means it’s worth.
