Dead Rising 2 dev diary confirms need for "all American" hero

You didn't think they pulled "Chuck" out of a paper hat, did you?

The latest Dead Rising 2 dev diary has confirmed that Capcom needed an American hero to carry the sequel, following on from snapper Frank West in the original.

"They wanted us to bring something a little more all American to the franchise, but we didn't want to go with something absolutely cheesy," said Dave Taylor, art director at developer Blue Castle.

"We wanted to go with someone iconic, someone that you could recognise from a single screenshot."

The final character evolved over time into what you see today: the blue-eyed pin-up of all things zombie.

The full game releases in the UK on September 24, with a US release following on September 28.

You can pick up 360-exclusive prequel Case Zero right now; it released today.
