Extra $10, might be also “pay to play” charge? and the game prices will be unchange

In Spain we are paying now 71€ for 12 month Live.

wtf? I just payed $30 for a new card I haven’t used yet and before that it was $30 and $16 off ebay. I refuse to pay more then $30.

From what i’ve heard MS will indeed be selling Kinect at a loss so them raising the price might be to make up for that. We can only assume seeing as they themselves dont seem to want to give a reason.

Dosnt affect me seeing as i dont live in any of those places but its important to point out that the UK and North America are where the 360 sells best (not sure about Mexico, must be where it sells best in South America then). So they’re aiming this only at places where they know its less likely to put people off the service/make the most profit.

Well, being in the UK I don’t really mind. We are only paying extra for the pay as you go privs, which is fairly standard even on things like mobiles. But, for the USA this price hike(although not a great amount) should have come with SOMETHING to justify it?

Would they offer a free service? no. do they value their customers over a long time like sony? no. doesn microsoft care about being a decent first party? noooo. what about the hardware microsoft? not till recently !!oh and u can only use microsoft parts for hard drives and most upgrades, which is why the 4gb model was launched! O.G. I think PSN+ is only good for the deals if you haven’t aleardy bought the games. Getting those games at a discount rate by the end of the year will more than make up for the $50 you spent on plus cause you get to still keep those games unlike the free stuff if you ever decide to cancel your sub.

Thats what makes PSN+ a great deal. But unfortunaley the games they have for discount I already owned months or years ago so thats why I still haven’t payed for +.

@25 People make mountains out of molehills over things like an optional install on a game. I’d say that, by comparison, people’s responses to this is pretty tame.

Whilst I’m sure many have no issue with paying for the current XBL service, I’m sure a lot of people are perfectly justified in asking what this extra cost will benefit them. As others have pointed out, the timing of this action in relation to a new Halo game and the launch of a new peripheral is notable.

well honestly, to me, gaming hasn’t evolved much since the last generation, sure we have more & more online games, but that too was started last generation, also motion controls became popular last generation by the eyetoy, i don’t know if any other motion sensor perephials have had that kind of impact prior to the eyetoy though, so as far as i’m concerned, this gen is just improving on last gen.
But saying that the PS2 is the Jesus Christ of gaming is insulting to many people, personally i couldn’t care less about Jesus, the only impact he’s had on my life is the calender, but many, MANY relgious believers would take that as a huge insult. which is why it should not be used in a statement simply because it’s too contreversial & people tend to over react.

Well here I will Put it:
I use it only to Watch Netflix Movies, So I guess I will move on to my PS3 or Wii now, because they are still free to use to watch Netflix.

Internet: $50.00 a month
Netflix Sub: $21.00 a month
Xbox Sub: $50.00 a year, now going to $60.00 a year

So yearly just on those 3: $902.00 going to $912.00

I know I know, only $10.00 right…well When your wallet is bent to the snapping point, all it takes is $1.00 to break it….

Analysts have already said that Netflix’s current strategy is not sustainable. So They will be raising prices as well. And my Internet company, Well they raise prices about $5.00 every 6 months.

I agree 100% that the PS3 and its PSN are better values. Honestly they have been for awhile.

And PSN+ is a bit lite on its incentives, but at 60usd/year so is LIVE Gold.

All of that being said, I still feel that LIVE is a more stable and robust service. Add in so many(read: almost all) of my gaming friends play on LIVE, toss in the exlcusive Arcade games, and a few odd exlcusive retail games, and for me the comfort of the xb360 controler … and it is going to be hard to break away from xb360 personialy.

And to be honest I tried that once.

After a rrod I sold everything xb360, and started buying/playing on PS3. But because of thos same reasons listed above, I went back to xb360 once my replacment system came back from MS.

But times are tough, and like Frosty said, I may not have a choice. Things have gotten harder for me and my family in the past 12 months. They don’t look much brighter anytime soon.

And I have 3 xb360 gold account at this point(the extra systems kids xmass gifts from their grandparents). So instead of 180 usd to keep the gold live running for one more year I may break down and buy them(or have my folks buy em, for xmass their own PS3s).

Me, myself? I play so much PC these days(that is where the real gaming value is at), that I doubt I would miss Gold Live anyways.
