Dragon Age 2 “Destiny” trailer gets extra 42 seconds with director’s cut

dragonage25

BioWare’s released an extended version of the gamescom Dragon Age 2 reveal trailer, granting an extra 42 seconds of show-stopping CG. Get it in HD after the break.

The footage shows protagonist Hawke facing off against a regicidal boss in one of the studio’s phenomenal trademark teasers.

Hit the YouTube logo at the base of the video to watch it in 720p. It was released at 1080p, but we’re not that brave. Watch an SD version of the gamescom trailer here.

The hugely anticipated RPG was given a US and UK release date by Dr Ray at EA’s gamescom press event last week; it’ll hit on March 8 and 11 respectively.

I’m going to assume the character you play in this is the child the player-character and Miranda sire in the original dragon age?

Now that was a cool trailer. Can someone please tell me when gameplay will be playable graphics like that? :D

I’m the Grey Warden, and this is my favourite trailer in Ferelden.

It’s cool until you realise that demonic looking thing Hawke’s fighting is what the Qunari look like now.

No Hawke is not the child that the Grey warden and Morrigan conceive. Hawke was alive and well into his adulthood when the horde just attacked Loithering (the first town you can go to after Ostagar.).

Ive heard some people are pissed about the direction DA 2 has taken how come? I didnt like the first as it was a PC game first and a console game second and my PC is crap and i wasnt going to play a gimped console version imo.

People don’t like change? From what I read from the forums and articles, your Hawke having tones (you actually pick a tone for your character which changes the actions you choose like Sarcastic tone for your character and you select to give money to little Johnny, that Hawke will then give money to Johnny with a smartass remark.

I am actually looking forward to the changes and the direction the sequel is going.

Also like Mike Laidlaw had said in an interview majority of the people that bought DAO were on a console so he said the focus will be more friendly to console players such as the removal of Isometric view and the focus going to THird Person view or Over the shoulder. And the AI is a lot smarter no need to micromanage unless you want to.

@ 11 Ahh ok so does this continue on from DA like ME 2 carrys on from the first ME or can it be played stand alone?

ITs stand alone they did say some of the choices will show up on DA2 like who you picked to rule Ferelden, what happened at the end. Things like that, probably be a reference like Mass Effect 2 did it.

Yeah I’m pretty sure this is stand alone. Dude runs away to a completely different part of the world after the city is sacked. I’m not convinced.. So now we become the ‘lone adventurer’ instead of being a bad ass grey warden? meh..

And while the trailer obviously isnt totally indicative of game play.. the idea of a warrior shooting spells and sh!t really annoys me considering how cut and dry the classes where in the first game..

@14

I think Hawke is far more bad ass than the Grey Warden. Like Bioware has said the Dragon Age franchise not about one character or just about the Grey wardens, its about the Age of Dragons In Thedas.

@15

Its a CGI made by Blur none of what you see will happen obviously though there may be a warrior who has spell like abilities like SPirit War, Reaver and Templar did in the first one or even Mage Specializations like Arcane Warrior. Just food for thought. As the trailer said there is still the 3 classes.

@15 You obviously never tried the Arcane Warrior spec then. This video reminds me of that, as well as what appears to be Blood Mage abilities, which if part of the story, could be very intriguing indeed…

I hope if they do put more into Blood Specializations. I barely used any of the spells unless I was out of mana.

@15 Hawke is definitely a dual spec Arcane Warrior and Blood Mage in this, so not even a warrior class.
