gamescom 2010 – Sony press conference liveblog is go! go! go!

ps3logo

Microsoft came out of the blocks early with its gamescom announcements this morning, but Sony’s keeping its cards close to its chest until later this evening. The company’s Cologne presser kicks of at 6.00pm CET, and we’re covering it live.

We suggest you should keep an eye on this one: it’s going nuclear.

We’ve heard nothing on a PSP2 hint or a look at the rumoured PSP phone, so unless we’re 100 percent wrong – and we’re 99 percent sure we’re not – don’t expect any hardware reveals compared to last year’s PS3 Slim announcement.

Keep an eye on the software, though: Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, inFamous 2, Motorstorm: Apocalypse and more are certain.

It’s very likely we’ll hear a European date for Gran Turismo 5 as well. It’s already been confirmed for a November 2 launch in the US at E3, so it’s possible we’ll know the same for Europe this evening.

And word to the wise: you’re going to hear at least one massive software announcement from Sony. Don’t blink.

Pat and Keza are doing this one.

A month since it was released on digital platforms, Dying Light’s physical release has topped the UK charts. • GTA 5: that’s some seriously accurate grenade throwing

Think you can take down a jet plane with a grenade throw? This guy can. In fact, he can do it twice. This is in a variation on the player-created deathmatch “Stunters Versus Snipers” which seem to be all the rage in GTA Online at the moment. One team has a sniper rifle (and grenades) […]

  • Dragon Age: Inquisition mod enables male Blackwall romance, terrific joke

“Male Inquisitors can now scale the wall,” says a clever Redditor. A new Dragon Age: Inquisition mod removes Blackwall’s romantic restrictions, allowing male Inquisitors to chat up the fuzzy-faced warrior. Blackwall doesn’t have any race preferences, so you’re good to go there. Dragon Age: Inquisition romance mods are pretty common by now, and to be […]

  • Destiny: it is possible to solo the Weekly Heroic

Destiny players willing to faff about with their system clock can solo the Weekly Nightfall if they prefer. The Weekly Heroic is one of Destiny‘s toughest challenges. Responding to player feedback Bungie implemented matchmaking for the Weekly Heroic, but there are players who genuinely prefer to go it alone. There’s now no legitimate way to […]

  • Bungie “always” looking at Exotic changes for Destiny updates

Destiny developer Bungie won’t stop tinkering with Exotic weapons. In Destiny, Exotic weapons are supposed to be the best of the best – and to feel unique. Guns like Ice Breaker and Gjallahorn definitely hit the mark there (although less so when everyone has one), but unfortunately, there are a few that just don’t strike […]

  • Is Uncharted 4′s first trailer a tribute to Crash Bandicoot?

Uncharted 4′s first proper trailer bears some remarkable similarities to the opening moments of a much earlier Naughty Dog game. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has more in common with Crash Bandicoot than you might think. It’s Naughty Dog’s first game on a new console, yes – but if you compare Uncharted 4′s E3 2014 […]

The comment arose after the site asked if Sonic would become […]

  • Stealth Inc. 2 coming to PSN, apparently

Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones will soon be available on PlayStation platforms, if a trophy list is to be believed. theres a chance we’ll see what Sony Liverpool & Cambridge are up to. Thing about Insomniac is that they’re American so them showing their game at a European event is abit odd.

    #14 5 years ago
  15. Aimless

@14 Haven’t Insomniac committed to show their game at PAX? Perhaps today is just its announcement, the ‘proper’ unveiling being saved for the fan event; seems fairly in keeping with their focus.

  16. Erthazus

I’m interested to hear about PSP 2 or other Sony devices + i’m interested in Cloud Gaming that CEO mentioned about at this E3.

New games? I doubt it will be Resistance 3 or any other big blockbuster game. Probably some Liverpool, Cambridge, London, Novarama piece of s***. Maybe Quantic Dream will show something, but i think it will be next year.
Maybe Dutch team from Guerrilla will show Killzone 3 multiplayer. I expect a LBP 2 blowout information about beta and new DLC skins. Evolution Studios will show Motorstorm 3, finally.

    But thats probably it.

A few new games, loads of hands on stuff of games already announced, and some services for the PS3 and PSN.

I reckon dead certs are – 40D/LoveFilm and maybe some other video stuff for PSN. Play TV 2, Updated PS3 software with some new bits and bobs.

Games wise, perhaps Resistance 3 and R&C, maybe that Mass Effect rumor might come true as well, but probably EA would announce that.

I reckon it’ll be a decent enough show.
