Tuesday, 10th August 2010 18:17 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Nintendo has announced Wii has sold 30 million units in the US alone.

According to Nintendo’s internal sales figures, Wii reached the milestone in only 45 months which is “15 months faster than the next best-selling console”.

“More than any other video game system in history, Wii has expanded the world of video games to new audiences,” said NOA’s Cammie Dunaway.

“This milestone is another reminder that people want fun games they can play with others – all at a value-minded price.”

According to NPD, the top 10 best-selling Nintendo-published Wii games in the US as of June are:

““15 months faster than the next best-selling console”.”

But then the next best selling console did start a higher price…

That next best-selling console is the PS2, right? I suddenly thought it could be the DS.

Wii is a fucking great system absolutely.

Just do this: Buy Dual core processor with decent videocard and all your Wii software is emulated in HD with modern post processing effects… oh.. and for free.

I sold my Wii and this was the biggest mistake buying it from the start. I bought it because i wanted Metroid and Zelda.

I’ve seen the emulation for the Wii on PC and it’s shite, the games don’t run properly, there is too many bugs in the emulator to run any game sufficiently, some games don’t run at all. It’s a quad-core PC and a Nvidia 470 GTX i’ve got by the way.

Should’ve kept yer Wii until the emulator is up to scratch and can run games, properly…

@6 I’d rather help to actually support the business so that companies (especially the small ones) can continue to create and released great games.

    But thanks for the suggestion.

unless youre 12 or under, constantly drunk or grew up with & love metroid/zelda/mario etc, there is no reason for a gamer to get a wii

@9 The appreciation of some of the most finely crafted games ever made is one other reason that springs to mind.

“I’ve seen the emulation for the Wii on PC and it’s shite”

O’rly? I emulated all Wii software and don’t have any bugs or your shit. You can go to the forum and you will see a lot of people that have complains only with Running emulator on a certain type of PC. Dolphin emulator is almost perfect.
I played all software what i need and have no problems with it. Even if you have an OK PC your games will run but with just slow FPS. You just need Dual core processor and decent videocard. There are no bugs at all.

@8 I stopped support Nintendo because they sell a lot for it’s SD content on the disk. I don’t see a reason to support them especially the system that is last last generation. Srsly.

Basically i would not bought DS if i discovered DS emulater that day. Buying cheap Netbook and installing a DS emulator will make a perfect DS.
I really don’t want to support stupid hardware with my money.

That’s a lot of pollution. We mustn’t forget Nintendo’s green credentials are the poorest of all console manufacturers. Think about the dolphins people

Only reason wii even sells is because it is so cheap. Everyone knows this. If ps3 was that cheap or xbox it would sell millions.
