Rumor: Guillermo del Toro in negotiations with THQ

Guillermo del Toro

Sources close to the LA Times have said the "big publisher" Guillermo del Toro is currently working with to bring his "technically and narratively" interesting games to the public is none other than THQ.

Could this be one of the two announcements THQ's Danny Bilson promised would " blow our minds"? We'll just have to wait and see.

Last week, del Toro told MTV News he was set to make an announcement regarding his gaming deal within the next few weeks.

We reached out to THQ regarding the matter, and a spokesperson for the company told us it doesn't "comment on rumors and speculation", which was rather expected.

One thing is known for sure. If it's THQ, it definitely isn't a Hobbit game, as Warner owns the rights to everything Tolkien related.

Who knows, though. There could very well be a del Toro deal in the works with Warner focusing on the elder Baggins, as the directer has more than one project planned.

Thanks, Joystiq.
