Valve on Left 4 Dead PS3: “Who knows?”

Anyone up for Left 4 Dead on PS3? After the Portal 2 E3 megaton, “who knows?”

Valve PR boss Doug Lombardi has told PSM3 that the company’s taking a wait-and-see approach to bringing other in-house games, like Left 4 Dead, to PS3.

“Who knows what the future will bring?” Lombardi speculated.

As for 3D and Move support on PS3 for Portal 2, there’s no chance.

“[Move and 3D] will have to wait for Portal 3 or another title,” he added. “We won’t be supporting those in Portal 2.”

Portal 2 is the studio’s first in-house PS3 project, although it isn’t its first game on the system altogether: The Orange Box released for PS3 in 2007.

But, unlike Portal 2, it wasn’t handled by Valve but a port from EA, which didn’t go down very well with most PS3 users.

EA Partners boss David DeMartini called the port a “challenge situation”.

Portal 2 releases next year.

“Who knows…?” Well, you would, becuase it’s your game, wich is why we asked you, Lombardi.

That would probably be considered rude ;)

A shame we won’t be seeing move support for Portal 2. Move seems like a natural fit with the type of gameplay in Portal 2.

L4D on a console is junk, spraying bullets all over the screen like a crazy person is not my idea of fun.

On a Pc on the other hand where you can do something importaint like AIM on the other hand it’s realy fun.

Check out the gameplay trailers for portal, perfect timing and accuracy are need. i think Move support would just be a lesson in frustration

And winner of most obtuse comment of the day goes to da da da DAAAAAAAAA! Poster Number Four!

Come on buddy, don’t be a wank. Some console gamers are extremely adept with a pad, it’s certainly not as easy to aim with sticks (in my opinion) but you can learn to be good at it.

@6 If you are saying you can take headshots and shoot off limbs in L4D on a consolle when 20 zombies are charging you then you shall get a diploma!

L4D on console is SHIT, nuff said.

    @7, Er, yeah, you can.

Headshots aren’t hard on a console, they’re just different, it’s more about taking opportunistic shots than clicking on heads.

And I usually come top of the headshot %age during the credits roll in L4D2.

    FUCK WORD ERROR
i think if portal does good on ps3 then theres a good chance L4D will be made on ps3 and move for L4D is really bad

So there will be a Portal 3? Why Valve?! I am getting sick of buying games with cliffhangers example: Half Life 2 Episode 2 ends with a big gap, and Portal 2 will likely answer some of our questions regarding Aperture Science but we will most likely see another cliffhanger.

OOOH OOOH I got it an idea! The next L4D should be titled L43D. get it?! the third installment and the game should be 3D for PS3…L43D

I’m a fucking genius sometimes I swear…make it happen SONY. before M$ pays Valve exclusive rights like they do all the other 3rd party devs :(

@15, I’m pretty sure whatever story Portal 2 has will be pre-next HL installment filler anyway. I wouldn’t worry too much.

why would ps3 owners want an underrated graphics game?

@19 DON’T TALK MADNESS! Who cares about *gameplay* in a game?! Really, sheesh! All that matters is the graphics!

Left 4 Dead on PS3 is a win for everyone really. Sony are more likely to allow Valve to do their free DLC (assuming they still intend on making any more), therefore forcing Microsoft to allow the same on the 360.

@21, idk if Sony would let Vlave do free DLC, i do not see why they would, idk if Sony is that generous, but maybe

@22, if Sony are allowing Steamworks on PS3 (which they are) then it suggests that they’re willing to let Steam servers do business on the PS3, if so then Valve might be able to deliver content straight to the PS3 via their own servers rather than through PSN, thereby necessitating Sony taking a cut.

It’s a possibility, although not saying it’s likely.
