Sakaguchi not retiring after The Last Story

Sakaguchi

Sounds like someone’s not ready to head to that great gaming retirement home just yet.

A blog post from Mistwalker boss Hironobu Sakaguchi suggested last week that he would stop making games after the studio finishes development on upcoming Wii RPG, The Last Story.

But that was a week ago, and in Japanese. This week, the Final Fantasy creator’s post has been translated into English, where sense has been made again.

“Emotionally it feels like this is my last work, while pouring everything I have gotten into this project,” he said.

So false alarm. The Sak isn’t going anywhere just yet.

The first footage of The Last Story debuted a couple of weeks back. Get it here.

Thanks, Eurogamer.

Next week on the global videogames news programme: “Sakaguchi: I might go for a poo after my tea.”

Quickly followed by a retraction of the poo statement, with the clarification that he was really only going for a wee. And possibly a quick five-knuckle shuffle.

@ Tonka..

Michael Jackson titled his 50 Concert London Stadium Extravaganza ” This is It”, and we all know how that played out… :(

Well, maybe then there wouldn’t be an embarrassing sequel.
