Vanquish dated for October 21 in Japan, EU date coming “shortly”

OTT Platinum third-person actioner Vanquish will release on October 21 in Japan, according to Famitsu’s latest issue.

The date applies to both PS3 and 360 versions of the shooter, which has been handled by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami.

It’s looking to be proper epic, going by what was seen at E3 and this gameplay clip released over the weekend.

No western date has been announced yet other than just “winter,” but Sega’s told VG247 that a date for the UK and Europe is on the way.

“I can’t comment,” a rep from the company told us when asked on a western date, “but should be able to let you know shortly.”

Hit this for our interview with Platinum’s Atsushi Inaba at E3.

Vanquish looks ALRIGHT from what I’ve seen so far, i do not feel like spending my hard earned cash on an ALRIGHT game though, so i hope to see a great game otherwise I’ll pass

Since it’s a japanese game, does it means the PS3 version will be slightly better?

@2 Bayonetta looked a lot better on the 360 but I think that’s the only Japanese game that was better on the 360.

Resident Evil 5 says hi!

Apparently they lead on PS3 this time around, so in theory it should be fine.

Resi evil 5 looked equal on both Blerk, i saw it being played. This all multi formats look better on the 360 is mostly bullshit, there are only 2 games Bayonetta and the Orange box that are bad on the Ps3.

It all comes down which platform developers use as a lead platform and then porting it to the other.

Bayonetta was developed by Platinum for 360 and SEGA rushed the port to ps3(hence the inferiority of the ps3 version).

If Mikami’s statements have anything to go by this one uses ps3 as the lead platfrom and the port will be on the 360

If anyone has the choice between two versions of any game best bet would be to go with the one which is the “lead” version

Resi 5 looked ‘the same’ apart from the missing effects and geometry, Hindle. In essence you don’t notice, but it definitely wasn’t “slightly better on PS3″ despite being a Japanese game.

zoop’s right though, the ‘lead’ version is usually the one to go with. That said, Vanquish is on the same engine as Bayonetta, so it might be worth playing the wait and see game if you have a choice of platforms. Although knowing Mikami the game’s probably designed with the DualShock in mind.

I never noticed any “missing effects” or “geometry” Blerk, did you play the Ps3 version of Resi evil 5 or just read articles on the internet telling you the 360 version had so and so effects whilst the Ps3 didnt because the best way is to see it first hand.

That’s not entirely true at all. Fallout 3 was a lot poorer on the PS3 as well. As far as I’m aware it’s because most dual platform titles start life on a PC, then are ported to 360, then are ported to PS3, which is why they suffer, though it seems to be happening less and less. I’m sure there’s more to it than that though. As for this game, I think it looks ace personally.
