EA confirms August 17 date for gamescom press conference

ealogo2

Here we go. EA’s just sent out a save the date notice for its gamescom 2010 press conference, confirming it will take place on August 17.

The event kicks off at 4.30pm CET, with doors opening at 4.00pm for those attending.

EA hasn’t formally announced what to expect, but odds-on FIFA 11, Dead Space 2, and Bulletstorm will be present, and most especially Crysis 2 from Crytek – since it’s the developers home turf after all.

VG247 liveblogged EA’s press event at gamescom last year, which included news on: EA Sports Active, The Sims, FIFA 10, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Brutal Legend, Dante’s Inferno, Mass Effect 2, Star Wars: TOR and Dragon Age: Origins.

Last year, gamescom had over 245,000 visitors and 458 exhibitors from 31 countries, making it one of the largest games trade fairs in the world.

You can get a glimpse of some of the exhibitors over on the official gamescom website.

The 2010 event’s open to the public August 18-22, and we’ll be there to cover everything as it happens. Know it.

GamesCOM is bigger than E3, going by attendance.

And it’s still a big platform to announce things, or atleast keep everyone updated.

Sony doesn’t, but EA did last year.

How about Microsoft and Nintendo? Or other companies?

Microsoft didn’t even bother showing up last year, so I wouldn’t hold your breath for them. In fact, weren’t Sony the only people who did anything last time around?

In a sense, Microsoft was there. Except you may as well have called it “The Peter Molyneux one man show.” :D

No doubt this year will all be about Kinect, as it was last year with Fable III.

As for Nintendo, it never bothers turning up for the event. Doesn’t mean we’ll still see third-party stuff on the showfloor for Wii and maybe even 3DS.

Quite frankly, I’m hoping MGS 3DS is there, so I can see it.

Sony always make a big deal of it. I reckon we’ll see MS there this year. Nintendo hasn’t done it for a while now.
