Having never played Crackdown 1, can I just add one full point to each review due to not having seen the city or the gameplay before?

The fact that the Eurogamer review is mostly pseudo-intellectual psychobabble makes me not take that 8 too seriously.

“If you seek its monument, look around you.” has my vote for most pretentious sentence in a game review.

I might give it a rent. Demo didn’t grab me very much.

I can find myself in the 7 from Gamespot and 7.5 from IGN. It’s a nice sequel but it never comes near the quality from the original game. Not al that bad, but a bit disappointing for a true fan.

I like the way the Bit-Tech piece describes it as “the dullest [game] we’ve ever reviewed” and then gives it 6/10.

Indeed, if you just had the text to each review and were told to guess what score each site gave based off that alone you’d be surprised any of them are over 7.

Apart from Eurogamer, which reads like a 9. It’s also one of the worst reviews I’ve read on EG in a long time.

Wow, scores are all over the place. I saw at the weekend all the pirates were complaining about it being full of bugs (my heart bleeds)…

Still, if EG gave it an 8, I’m going to give it a try.

Woah Igns review is pretty scathing, they say it hasnt improved graphically at all owch.

Not as good as Crackdown.

They’re pretty much right. The engine’s apparently smoother and it’s certainly throwing a lot more stuff around at once than the old one did but ultimately it looks just the same as it did last time around. That’s part of the reason why I was expecting middling scores (the other being that it really is just ‘more of the same’, reviewers generally don’t take kindly to that).

The first game was completely overrated anyway.

Have you seen the screenshot in the review and then under it they say yep its not a looker pretty funny

A few of the reviews are saying that the framerate is pretty poor. Dosnt sound like the engine is smoother.

I didn’t notice any difference myself, it was the Digital Foundry analysis of the demo that claimed it was ‘smoother’.

I think Edge will give it a 9

If it gets more than a 6 from Edge I’ll be frankly astonished.

Crackdown was a flawed but good game, this one seems like nothing but a reskin of it.

For me Crackdown is more of an Arena where you can mess up, but thats not fun for me + 60$ for the arena is just retarded where PC have a lot of gaming tools to mess up around. Imho.

I need a world, interesting setting, good story. For fuck sake normal graphics.
