Iwata earns $770k basic salary, Miyamoto gets $1.3 million
According to an Asahi Shimbun report, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata’s basic salary is ¥68 million ($770,000).
The figure, even when it’s boosted by performance bonuses up to ¥187 million ($2.1 million), is in massive contrast to that of Sony CEO Howard Stringer, who rakes in a total of ¥816.5 million ($9.2 million).
It’s also been confirmed that a group of six Nintendo board members, including Shigeru Miyamoto, earn as much as ¥100 million ($1.3 million).
Miyamoto’s previously said that his earnings were in line with other producers at Nintendo after refusing a much bigger salary.
The report also revealed the wages of fellow CEOs, like Square Enix’s Yoichi Wada (¥240 million/$2.7 million), Sega Sammy Holdings CEO Osamu Satomi (¥435 million/$4.9 million) and Namco Bandai Holdings president Kazunori Ueno (¥137 million/$1.54 million).
It’s now required under new Japanese legalisation for companies to disclose which board members make over ¥100 million.

Get the facts right guys. The total is $1.1 million paid BETWEEN all six Nintendo Representative Directors. That means Miyamoto is getting paid around $180,000, much less than the $1.3 million you claim.

Well, not as much as i would expect them to make. The President of the company of my previous job was making $1.9 million per year. The funny thing is, it is a very small company that manufactures stainless steel toilets for industrial uses and is nowhere near (I’d say 1/1,000) the level of a company Nintendo is. So for these guys, the backbone of Nintendo, to be making less than my former boss, is very wierd to me.

you Can’t compare Sony with Nintendo, but you can compare SCE with Nintendo, Sony does nore then games, they should of listed whoever is directly in charge of SCE instead of the CEO of the whole company

Wow no wonder America is in the Toilet…Those Salaries are in line with lower end management here…Sigh…China will buy us one day, because USA is one of the greediest countries in the world…Those at the Top are never satisfied they always want more…Got have that 24k Gold Crapper in all 150 Bathrooms of the Summer Home..SIGH
