Shooters for Move, Kinect have “amazing potential,” says Splash Damage

Splash Damage CEO Paul Wedgwood has said that shooters with PlayStation Move and Kinect support could have “amazing potential”.

But he told CVG at E3 that the developer has no intention of including either tech into its own shooter, Brink.

“I think these motion controllers have amazing potential for shooters, but perhaps not in the way people might immediately think,” said Wedgwood.

“Perhaps we’ll think about that in the future, but we don’t have any plans for implementation in Brink.”

Having been due for release this fall, Brink was pushed into spring next year by publisher Bethesda during E3.

It’ll release on PS3, 360 and PC. Kinect and Move both release later this year.

Kinect is not accurate enough and has input lag. Maybe for a on-rails shooter like on the Wii. FPS gaming has never been a great success for the Wii either, so I guess Playstation Move will not have such great appeal either in the shooter market. Motion controls lend themselves more for minigame collections and other party games. Perhaps even racing games or something, not for fast-paced twitch gameplay that an FPS requires.

Now Yall now that shooter games will work fine with the move controller just look at the reviews its being getting from Socom it have more accuracy than a game on the Wii and better movement also the kinect to me wont work that good because u need that feed back that in put in your hand but than again saying commands it not that bad but i like to be put inthe center of the action

He says: “I think these motion controllers have amazing potential for shooters, but perhaps not in the way people might immediately think,”

I think he is implying that using Kinect for pointing the gun is not going to happen but there are MANY other possibilities for Kinect other than the before mentioned use.

@1, you don’t know the accuracy of Kinect and when not used as a pointing device the accuracy is not a concern. BTW: there is still lag with Move…and even more so when using it for gesture based commands as the gesture itself takes time to interpret.
