BioWare VP Greg Zeschuk has told Eurogamer that the pricing for Kinect and PlayStation Move needs to be at a right level or “they won’t take off”.

Speaking at E3, he said he wanted to see how the motion camera and wand would do first before the studio made a decision to “commit” to them.

“I love the no controller element but it’s going to come down to execution, how precise and how good it is,” said Zeschuk.

“With regard to all these things, I worry about price points. Ray [Muzyka, BioWare CEO] and I work on both the development and the business side, so we’re excited from a game design perspective but we also look at the practical reality of making these technologies successful. If the price is too high, they won’t take off.”

Kinect’s pricing wasn’t revealed at E3 two weeks ago, but will be announced at gamescom in August, with listings a while back showing the camera will cost $150.

Move is set to cost $50, with its sub-controller selling separately at $30.

Kinect and Move are out this fall, with the former out in the US on November 4, while the latter launches in September in the west.

True. Move seems fairly priced for one player, though could be costly for 2-4 players. I only have to worry about me,so it’s going to be cheap for me.

    Kinect needs to be £80-100.

If you want full Move setup incl. 1 extra Move controller, which will be required for some games, the price will be about $189. So I don’t see how Kinect is so much more expensive if it ends up costing $150…

You can use any PS3 controller instead of the sub controller, it’s just there for the frail who can’t use a controller in a single hand, so it’ll cost $50 (USD)per person, the regular sixaxis/dualshock 3, is good enough for moderate tracking, which was shown in that gladiator styled game, so for a couple of people, it won’t cost too much, also to note, i doubt the kinect technology would be great enough for more than 2 ppl being properly tacked @ once, i could be wrong, but we’ll have to wait to see if it really is just a 3d tracking version of the eyetoy

How did you get $189? This is for 2 x Move + 1 x navi + camera? (2x$50) + $30 + $40 = $170. Alternatively if you go for the Sports Champions pack then you can get to $180 but that also includes the game.

Sony really need to take a hit on Sports Champions and pack it in at very little additional cost with a variety of the peripherals.

@DrDamn – I might have remembered it wrong. I just wrote what Pachter said on Bonus Round. His job is to know these prices.
