BioWare on Kinect, Move pricing: “If the price is too high, they won’t take off”
BioWare VP Greg Zeschuk has told Eurogamer that the pricing for Kinect and PlayStation Move needs to be at a right level or “they won’t take off”.
Speaking at E3, he said he wanted to see how the motion camera and wand would do first before the studio made a decision to “commit” to them.
“I love the no controller element but it’s going to come down to execution, how precise and how good it is,” said Zeschuk.
“With regard to all these things, I worry about price points. Ray [Muzyka, BioWare CEO] and I work on both the development and the business side, so we’re excited from a game design perspective but we also look at the practical reality of making these technologies successful. If the price is too high, they won’t take off.”
Kinect’s pricing wasn’t revealed at E3 two weeks ago, but will be announced at gamescom in August, with listings a while back showing the camera will cost $150.
Move is set to cost $50, with its sub-controller selling separately at $30.
