Metal Gear Rising to be second MG series, says Matsuyama

Metal Gear Solid Rising could become a series of its own according to the game’s producer, Shigenobu Matsuyama.
Speaking to Enterbrain in a podcast, Matsuyama said rumours suggesting Rising is just a Metal Gear Solid spin off are far from the truth.
“MGS Rising is not a side story. We’re aiming for two Metal Gear Solids, making a series out of another standard.”
Studio director Hideo Kojima has no direct involvement in Rising, instead concentrating on MGS: Peacewalker and MGS: Solid Snake 3D.
No date yet, but it’ll release on PS3, 360 and PC.
Thanks, Andriasang.

@2 Actually not. It’s not announced on Konami’s press conference.

There is a PC version coming. It was announced at the presser last year.
Then again, things do change in a year.

From the press release last year:
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced Kojima Productions is working on a new Metal Gear Solid title, which will mark the series’ first simultaneous multi-format release. Entitled Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the game will be available for Xbox®360, PLAYSTATION®3 and PC-DVD.

I know that the “solid” apparently refers to the game being 3D but how can this be another Metal Gear Solid series as the current is already in the form of 1,2,3,4 wouldn’t this confuse the consumers
Plus just Metal Gear Rising would be less of a mouthful

@4,5 Except that they cancelled the production for PC.
We knew that last year it was coming to PC, but go to the http://www.konami.com official site
Or official Rising site and there is no PC version in production anymore.

Would love them to drop the ‘solid’ from the title.
But then that may lose a lot of brand awareness, and perhaps Microsoft (seeing as they seem to be backing this title) want to keep it as ‘MGS’ in order to say they have an MGS title on 360.

Kojima and other devs said it has the same amount of stealth as MGS 4. Which you didn’t have to use stealth MGS 4, it is a preference .

Where did they say that? Kojima dosnt want to talk about the game and the other guy said that it has stealth in the same way Batman AA has stealth.

Kojima is not in the developement of this game other than executive producer.

“While not shown in the trailer, Rising will also have elements of stealth. Players can choose to play the game using sneak mechanics like a more conventional MGS game, or those who are more confident in their action skills and jump direction into the fight.”

Raiden will be overused, the snake saga wasnt overused.
I think mg rising should just have a 1 time game beginning middle and end, unless kojima is taking back over for mg rising 2, showing a mid age snake and otacon

although I’m really excited about Rising, I can’t say I’m too happy about a “second” MGS series branching out from it. My love for the MGS series is such that I really don’t want to see the franchise being “milked”(for lack of a better word.)
PeaceWalker, Rising, SnakeEater3D… all sure to be regarded as great games. But I just feel like the more MGS games are released, the more the MetalGearSolid franchise loses its…shall I say,”prestige”.
I for one, would have loved (Solid)Snake’s last hurrah in MGS4 to have been the definitive and final tale told within the MGS universe.

That dosnt sound like “the same amount of stealth” at all. Its pretty much just saying that the game will have stealth in it.
Matsuyama says there that the stealth with be “different” due to faster speed and at the Konami E3 conference that it’ll be more vertical and about ‘hunter Vs. prey’. Sounds like Batman AA stealth to me.
Seriously, dont expect stealth to play a big role in this game.
