PlayStation Plus subscribers in Europe get LBP free

Sony has posted an explanation on what PlayStation Plus includes and how it works over on the EU PS Blog, and buried within the post is a nice little tidbit for you.
The scrumptious morsel? European subs get LittleBigPlanet for free.
Here’s the blurb:
If you sign up between the 29th June and 3rd Aug for the 1 year subscription then you will also receive a downloadable copy of the original LittleBigPlanet game for PS3, completely free! This is yours to keep and is not tied to the period of subscription.
Free. Forever. Yours to keep. How very nice.
Hit the link for yourself and get the full rundown on how it all works.
PS Plus was announced at E3, and will run you around £39.99 a year.

@2 They get 90 days free, we get the game.
I wonder if it will be like a GOTY edition with some DLC? I already have the game on Blu-ray.

@1 now you can sell it and buy another game
…for some reason (in usa only maybe) people that buy off personal/private sellers, they go for outrageous prices. I sold Street Fighter 4 to some dude for $40 when Super Street Fighter 4 had come out a week before for the same price and Street Fighter 4 was only $24.99 in stores too!
Dumbass guy really.

3 free months???? i’d rather have a game. Gimme LBP back or inFamous even. They probably chose LBP because of its multiplayer though.

I’d expect most people that would be interested in this kind of service would already have this game.
Not interested in PS+ myself yet.

“I wonder if it will be like a GOTY edition with some DLC?”
Just the standard edition.

I was gonna buy 90 days to test this out, but is it worth it to buy a whole year for LBP?

It says LBP is a downloadable version of the game. I wonder if they will add other full games.

i dont even know what the PS+ is going to include. The only thing i know is early access to BETAs.
Is there anything worth the $50 price tag?

@11 Depends on what will be added in the future. I think its safe to say most if not all other additions to PSN overtime will be only available via PS+.
But at the moment there will be discounts on the PS Store for PS+ members, free (selected) downloadable PSN, PSone classics and Mini titles each month, plus the automatic update feature.

Yeah, that is kind of implied in the 1 hour + full game trials too.

@19, Although they could still just be demos.
Much like the Crackdown 2 demo, you can play the demo, progress into the game and earn Trophies, but all that data stay’s locked on your PS3 until you buy the physical disc and put it in your machine.

That would be a bit mad though – the game is only meant to be limited by the time limit applied – so multiplayer etc should all be open and available to you. It would have to be the full game you download.

@21 I know it sounds mad, but I just can’t see full PS3 games coming yet. I always thought Sony had a hard on for pushing Blu-ray titles. I read that Burnout and GT5:P on PSN were only one off’s. But hey, who knows.

Actually thinking about it – I already have LBP but a version stored on the HD I can just start up when ever I want without fumbling around for the disc is good.

PlayStation Plus will bomb because what Sony are offering for £39.99 is just, it seems, random garbage that nobody cares about i.e. a free game that most have bought, 20% off content here and there, shitty PSone games, and DLC nobody would otherwise have bought.
If Sony want to make money then they should charge £30 per year for online gaming (yes you would need to pay for it) with better servers (hence faster downloads), cross-game chat, etc.

You’d think they’d actually start by incentivising with things most people didn’t already have lol, or cared to have to start off with.
Like the last guy said, the rest of it’s like they took a list of all the things that didn’t sell, and wrote all the fails name onto paper scraps and picked the dregs from the filthy hat. Then charged people for it!

Woohooo, a game I already own. And lots of other people do to as it’s pretty popular.
A bitt like giving Halo 3 away with Xbox Live gold: pointless.

Are you all really thinking of buying a Plus sub?
