Riccitiello: 3D games may come at a "premium"

johnriccitiello

EA’s John Riccitiello has said that 3D compatible titles may come at a larger price than usual, and he would welcome this.

The EA man came straight out and said that he would like to see a price plan for new 3D-compatible titles to encourage growth.

“3D may well be one of the next and most important drivers for growth,” Riccitiello told attendees at an E3 breakfast. “That's yet to be seen and I don't think it's a 2010 story in any way, shape or form in a meaningful way.

"But as we move through 2011, 2012, it’s likely to be an opportunity both for additional growth and perhaps premium pricing for titles that better support 3D.”

EA’s own title, Crysis 2 is one title that will support 3D, although whether it  takes the Activision route of actually raising the price for it remains to be seen.

Thanks, MCV
