A report has emerged stating that  Nintendo 3DS will have software installs.

According to Nikkel, players will be able to copy 3DS software to internal memory. This will allow for users to carry around Multiple games at once, much like PSPGo.

This means that you will not need to carry your cartridges around with you, making the device truly portable.

Nikkel didn’t go into specifics on how this will work, so we will need to wait on more details before understanding the full feature.

Thanks, Andriasaang

Amazing… Now i need only 2 things to know:

    1) Release date

    2) Price of that 3D beast

Interesting. Since Nintendo have said that they’re going to do something about piracy we can only conclude that once you install a game to your system it is then locked to that system, otherwise you could just buy a game and give it to all your mates. So Nintendo have come up with a way to kill all used game sales on the 3DS while blaming it all on piracy.

While I love that Nintendo have found a way of giving me the convenience of an R4′s functionality without the legal problems, I suspect this means I won’t be able to sell any games I don’t like and if my 3DS breaks I’m going to have to buy all my games again (just like you currently have to with DSiWare).

Surely you’d have to insert the cartridge every now and then? Otherwise how can they verify you own all the games you have installed? Hmmm…

I’m guessing entirely, but I would expect if the game locks itself to the ID of the first 3DS its installed on, there’s no need to occasionally verify you still have it. Even if you give the game to someone else it won’t work in their 3DS, it will still be locked to the original system it was used in.
