gears3 e3

Two new gameplay videos for Gears of War 3 have hit the internet.

Check them out after the break.

As you can see from the videos, it all looks a bit manic in the world of Gears 3.

The first video shows the new Beast Mode which has you running around as a mutated beast, slapping each other with your deformed fists and weapons.

The second video is sheer gameplay, showing firefights, explosions and everything else that you have come to expect from the Gears series.

Gears of War 3 is set for release April 8 next year on 360.

Thanks, IGN

Its basically Gears2 with a few extra bells and whistles…kinda Meh but still cool.

    #2 5 years ago
  3. DrDamn

What did you expect Gears 3 to be? :) New campaign with some new features and maybe some new multiplayer stuff – horde mode in Gears 2 was the best element for me. Never played the campaign of Gears 2.

  4. Dr.Ghettoblaster

Glad to see them in some nice outdoor enviorment with trees, etc. Was getting really sick of that underground cavern crap in Gears 2…

    #4 5 years ago
  5. theevilaires

No not really. I know Epic can’t do much with the 360 anymore as its maxed out and there’s little room for major improvements graphical and technical wise.

I can’t be mad at guys who are trying to work with inferior tech at the best of their ability.

(the above statements were not meant to start a flame war so chill out)

(they were meant to piss off Mike :D )

With all its inferiority it still manages to push graphical boundaries past the PS3.. *Cough* Red Dead *cough*

(Not meant to start a flame war. Just irritate theevilaires)

  7. DrDamn

It wouldn’t matter whether what you put was true or not. The vast majority of gameplay advances are about ideas, not pushing the hardware further.

Multi Console game programmed on the easier console to program for with limited time.

Console exclusives of each Console going head to head.

Be the judge of true graphical prowess people. :D

Well I saw gow2 for the first time last week and at a friends house, and I gotta agree theevilaires I dont see ANY difference… I have to agree with his comments

    #9 5 years ago
  10. Gadzooks!

Gears looks every bit as good as the other top console exclusives.

It runs at 720p/30fps just like the other top console exclusives and has texture and lighting quality comparable to the other top console exclusives, so you can shut the fuck up about ageing hardware, platform superiority or whatever ego-boosting bullshit you have in your childish little pea brain TEA.

Maybe a little too much colour to please the whingers, but still has one of the best graphics of any game out there.

Difficult to tell from SD vids anyway…

In a post God of War 3 world, Gears 3 has a lot of catching up to do grahically, imo.

    #16 5 years ago
  17. The Hindle

In a post UC 2 world everything needs to catch up :D

    #17 5 years ago
  18. Gadzooks!

No catching up necessary, Gears is on par with anything on consoles.

Also, God of War has no free camera so can make many shortcuts with geometry and assets. Compare like for like or it’s meaningless.

    #18 5 years ago

2D gaming is so last gen.

    #19 5 years ago
  20. theevilaires

You made a mistake G1GA, here let me correct you.
The 360…the only console that can’t do 3D is so last gen ;)

    #20 5 years ago

Boy, I walked straight into that one, didn’t I…?

    #21 5 years ago
  22. The Hindle

Erm id hardly say Gears and UC 2 are on the same level graphically, Unreal engine 3 looks a bit dated now and even though Gears 3 looks good the graphics look the same as Gears 2 imo. Amongst the many games that use unreal though Gears is definatly the best looker or maybe Mass Effect.

    #22 5 years ago
  23. Gadzooks!

“Erm id hardly say Gears and UC 2 are on the same level graphically”

Well that’s an opinion. UC2 swaps some texture quality for post-processing and has less moving objects on-screen but they are about even overall.

    #23 5 years ago
  24. reask

Its funny how the Halo and Gears threads get so much negativity?
It would hardly be the RFOM KZ2 letdowns on the cell that would be the cause of it.

Hey guys look at these shit hot looking games on my cell I mean WOW.
Only thing is there boring as hell to play.
Still wtf they look better than Gears and Halo.

    #24 5 years ago
  25. The Hindle

Opinion that won it over 40 odd goty awards for its graphics man, id say youre definatly in the minority on this one.

    #25 5 years ago
  26. Gheritt White

Gear 3 does look better than Gears 2, at least from those screens.

    #26 5 years ago
  27. Dr.Ghettoblaster

    My point was this..

Gears 1 blew my socks off.

As did Uncharted 2 and God of War 3.

I happened to go through Gears 2 AFTER both U2 and GOW3, so this is the only reason I can think of that Gears 2 didn’t impress me as much and actually seemed kinda bland.

Definitley looking forward to Gears 3, just saying, they got some catching up to do GRAPHICALLY.

    #27 5 years ago
  28. manamana

Playing as a Ticker or even a Boomer, makes me giggle.

And you guys better get your minds calibrated, since it’s so incredibly irrelevant, witch console’s better. See: You can talk for years to come and never get a clue. ‘Cause it’s just your point of view.

And how should Gears make that giant leap towards UC2? It is so completely different. Yeah, ok, you can duck and shoot. And so? Ah, right, UC2 has a good story, where Gears drops bullshit. Well, I don’t care, as long as I can play the Ticker in MonsterMode :-D

  30. Erthazus

Gears Of War 3 Looks like a blast. I hope my friend will give me 360 just for this game.

this is the only game that i really like from the 360 library. Graphically it’s not a beast and never was, but UE3 was never graphical beast and Gears Of War was always about the gameplay and story in some it’s own way.

Gears Of War 3 looks slightly better then the second one. It’s more colorful.

but people who say that it is better then God Of War 3 or Uncharted 2 or Killzone 3, they must check their eyes or they are blind with fanboyism because it’s an exclusive to 360.

Gears 3 looks great, but the essence of it is not in the graphics and never will be. There are low resolution UE3 textures that you can’t fix because of that engine. Low filters, 2007 shaders, look at the models and shiny blood. You ccan’t fix that. But this is how it works with the engine.

Unreal Engine priority was only physics and gameplay elements and graphics was the last thing about that engine. That was a philosophy behind Unreal engine and thats how they sell it. It was very simple to program for it.

    #30 5 years ago
  31. MushroomStamp

Erthazus, for the first time EVER, I was on your side, up untill you brought KZ3 into it… That game WAS NOT that impressive and IMHO not better than even Gears 2.

    #31 5 years ago
  32. theevilaires

Mushroomstamp you too need help for denial.

    #32 5 years ago
  33. MushroomStamp

You need help for Fanboyism. I have all the consoles, I’ve own them all (the games we mentioned)… NOBODY I ever showed/played KZ with thought it was impressive.. NOONE

Ok I just re read that all, he said Kz3, I was thinking KZ2 cuz KZ3 isn’t out yet. My bad.. But still, KZ2 was NOT impressive. Gameplay wise KZ is not good enough to lick Gears arse.

    Fanboy Vs. Fanboy.

    #34 5 years ago
  35. Dr.Ghettoblaster

    Bottom line……Gears 3 is looking good. :)

    #35 5 years ago
  36. Erthazus

@MushroomStamp, Killzone 3 looks not amazing for me. It looks crap, but it definetily look better then Gears Of War 3. The reason is simple: Look at the animations and Morphological stuff in the faces and sea especially.
They are great. But seriously, games are identical, but animations really where Killzone is better then other shooters.

for me, the only game that has better animations is Crysis 1. Don’t know about Crysis 2, kinda felt like they changed it a bit for a consoles.

    #36 5 years ago
  37. theevilaires

I never said Gears3 didn’t look good, I just said they can’t do a huge leap from the last one because the 360 is maxed out. The GPU and CPU are just no match for RSX and CELL.

They need to understand that. This is not just my opinion, it is a fact. I will still purchase Gears3 and play it with G1GA, Reask, Psycho, or whoever.

    #37 5 years ago
  38. MushroomStamp

I might have to jump in on that.. last time I played with some brits in gears…well, there were several brit server sites that used to talk mad shit and play in pro comps. We butted heads a lot on their boards… much like here :) until we got together and played, and when they actually saw I was walking the walk we all became friends.. Amazing how talent recognized changes viewpoints from dislike to good natured ribbing. ;)

    #38 5 years ago
  39. theevilaires

Mushroom I’ve seen you play and honestly you’re shit. Makes me even ashamed more that you got your ass handed to you by a bunch of fucking euros. So I don’t know what the hell you talking about. They humbled you because you talk too much trash. That’s what really happened.

    #39 5 years ago
  40. MushroomStamp

WHAT?? You have NEVER seen me play.. NOONE from VG247 has seen me play.. and I sure as fuq didn’t get my ass handed to me in gears. You’re completely talking out your ass…

You have me confused with someone completely different.

Gears 2 does not look as good as Uncharted 2, God of War 3 or Killzone 2…sory Xbots.
I like Gears of War just as much as any guy, and i still play part 1 and 2 till this day and know that it doesnt compare to those 3 in terms of graphics. Gameplay, yes its up there with the top games out there on any console. Graphics, top for xbox but does not compare with the top 3 on PS3 and that isnt opinion. An opinion would be if i were to say that Gears is just as good as those 3 games in terms of art direction and game design. That would be and is my opinion of that nonsense.

On the actual article: Gears 3 looks fucking amazing. Definitely an increase in shader quality and the gameplay looks even better than part 1 and 2. My only problem is with how big Marcus is, they could have added definition in his muscle structure. He looks like hes got lots of fat on his arm on top of his muscle and i being an ex-trainer know that a guy running around in a heavy suit fighting big-ass monsters all day would look cut up (ripped).Shit, ex-trainer or not, everyone knows the amount of stress this guy puts on his body would make anybody look ripped. He would look more like how Cole did in Gears 1 and 2, just white.

And i play Brits all the time….Havent found any that can beat me and they all have more XP than me…shame….maybe i just havent played the right Brits.

Wow, it’s funny to see how people are still hung up on graphics. LOL I didn’t think people would sit around all day worshiping the textures, shaders and everything else instead of playing the game. But I can understand if your pissed about it since some are willing to shell the insane $60 price tag. Heck, I just want all of it to end, not just Gears, but all the BS of gaming, but it’s all marketing and I get that.

All this is just funny to me…love these comments. :)
