GoldenEye revamp trailer leaked

goldeneye

Looks like the new trailer for Actvision’s GoldenEye has leaked before the show kicks off tonight.

According to someone close to Activision earlier in the month, the game was created jointly with UK-based Eurocom (The World is Not Enough) and US-based n-Space.

It does indeed star Daniel Craig as Bond, as the leaked survey suggested.

DailyMotion got a hold of the trailer before IGN was forced to pull it, and we have it for you below the break.

Awesome.

Is the Wii really the audience to target with this?

I’d expect a PSN/XBLA release as well.

@BDH

We aren’t convinced. Do you have any random, unrelated YouTube videos you can link us to? XD

well hes right… console gamers just didn’t know any better. Besides all that, times have changed and this is gonna be another joke on the wii wii.

What ruined potential… Goldeneye changed how we gamed in my neighborhood.. we would literally have our own ladders among the kids around the area with FFA or 2v2 matches in goldeneye.. man that stuff was epic.. I would kill to be that impressed or obsessed with a game again.. seriously..

@6 No he’s wrong Goldeneye007 was a match for doom. And as far as ut2004 is concerned Goldeneye007 came out about two years before the original Unreal Tournament.

Goldeneye was the game that set the foundation for FPS if we were to reboot the same game with updated graphics today, would it have the same effect? No it wouldn’t. We have evolved passed that with our COD, Bad Company, Medal of Honor, Crysis. Times have changed.

Terrible video quality but it didn’t look too bad for the Wii.

That said…. Wii exclusive? Really? I can’t imagine why they’d limit the sales like that.

Unless it’s shit. Which it probably will be. :-D

It’s probably because Nintendo owns the original game

It’s going to be atrocious I reckon.

It’s just such a stinking idea. So many follow-ups have tried to emulate Goldeneye 64 and failed. And now they’re copying it, but not quite exactly. And throwing in Daniel Craig which seems frankly absurd.

It hurts my head even thinking about it all.

Nope because at the time Nintendo published the Rare developed 007 so Nintendo would have the rights.

Don’t matter because thats not the original game. Its been changed to resemble the original only with Craig and semi-updated graphics.

There are no rights to GoldenEye, just right to James Bond games as a whole and right now Acti holds those rights. They can pretty much do what they want with everything James Bond related.
I’d assume the fact that this is only on Wii is because the original was only on N64. Nintendo and Rare have nothing to say about it.

@15 – doubt it this activision for crying out loud they NEVER do exclusives. I’m sure if they could this would be on 360/ps3

@15

There are some rights relating to GoldenEye, remember that Nintendo blocked MS from releasing a GoldenEye remake on XBLAh?

This looks OK, although I still say the AI in the original GoldenEye is still some of the best around. The guards and scientists were always unpredictable, I remember accidentally knee-capping a scientist once and he pulled a gun on me!!

Despite BDH’s anti-console rhetoric, GoldenEye would have been just as impressive on PCs of the time, considering it came out mid-1997 before Half-Life (1998) and even Quake 2 (late 1997).

“Remember that Nintendo blocked MS from releasing a GoldenEye remake on XBLAh?”

that was because it WAS the same Goldeneye game made by Rare, published by Nintendo. There are no rights on the actual name though.

True, but at what point does a game stop being the same? Rare’s remake had new 3D models, textures, sounds, etc. This new game clearly has a lot of the same elements as the original including jumping off the dam, driving the tank around Saint Petersburg, dropping down onto a toilet from the vents, Odd-Job, Jaws, etc.

Could it be Wii only because Nintendo have given Activision permission to remake it?
