Star Wars Kinect title revealed

A Star Wars title that supports Kinect has just been shown at Microsoft’s event for the motion camera.
From what we’re being told at the event itself, you get to fight Darth Vader, as well as have force powers and a lightsabre.
Sounds awesome.
Get the lowdown from the event so far here.

Question: how are you going to play with your lightsaber if you don’t hold anything in your hand?
This is the game where Wii motion Plus and Playstation Move is the best.

I can’t wait! <3 Star Wars <3
@Erthazus – If you need to hold something, just pick something up, and pretend.

@3 Pretend? Wow… Ok:
Lightsaber? Check.
Force Push? Check.
but how are you going to change the powers or do something else beyond force? It’s not working. Maybe with the voice recognition, but thats just not Star Wars.
The best Star Wars games could be done with Wii motion Plus and Playstation Move. Why? Because they have buttons, not to mention about The vibration function that will let you feel that you have in your hand lightsaber. Not some stupid toy in your hand and i don’t want to pretend that i’m holding the sword or something. Seriously.

Hell yes!
A decent lightsaber game is what I’ve wanted from motion control from the beginning.
Let’s just hope this game lives up to it’s potential.

@Erthazus – But I’ve never seen Luke Sywalker run around with a PS3-controller before. It’s just not Star Wars.
@frostquake – If you prefer jerking off while playing games, but don’t want to get sore yourself, just invite a friend over and do as you please o_O Whatever floats you boat.

Yeah, reading some impressions this was apparently the only interesting thing shown. And the teaser was pre rendered.
Looks like the general consensus is that the event was lame and an utter waste of time. Atleast according to most of the press.

@13 And your brain of course don’t understand that every freakin game need a USER INTERFACE?
Without buttons you won’t have it. You can wagle with your fake sword how you want, but it’s not fun. Buy a Wii.

BTW why was there kool-aid there?
why was everyone in robes?
why was there a literal (and also fake) elephant in the room?
Just what happened in the early hours of the morning?!?

@Erthazus – Apparently not all games need a user interface. If you hate this stuff so much, I don’t understand why you post on these topics. You never have anything positive to say about Kinect. You’re a typical troll, who just use the internet to find stuff to shit on, because your real-life is so miserable
And I do have a Wii. But it’s not that fun waggling a controller randomly. Although the Wii has some fun games too

Erthazus is trolling every Microsoft E3 thread with the same inane, childish drivel. It’s getting really boring.

Why not just integrate Natal into Force Unleashed 2? Why restrict it to a small lightsabre game with just Vader? That said, I’m not a big fan of Force Unleashed, I thought it was crap.
What LucasArts really need to do is (re-)make another Dark Forces/Jedi Knight game. Use the controller for normal movement and use Natal for Force Powers and Lightsabre control.

Probably because in The Force Unleashed you do more then just wave a lightsaber around. You actually have to move the character in third-person to.

@21
I suspect that Natal/Move support will not be included in Force Unleashed 2 primarily because I dont think 3rd party devs will have had enough time with devkits yet.
Also as it’s a multiplatform release and it would have to work with 2 completely different methods of motion control I suspect it would take quite a while to get the two versions playing similarly.

Actually, it apparently does support Move.

They Definitely would need a Wand? for the Light Saber Game. Would be cool to push a button and light saber come on. I can see you using the motion of Push to force push, but how could it tell the difference in Force Push and Force Lightening??? Or Force Pull??? Hmmm maybe just a wand? to turn the Light Saber on and off?? would be cool to feel the wand vibrate in your hand, and have a mini speaker so you could hear the hum/hiss off the Light Saber….But that would be a Wii…Wait why hasn’t the Wii done this???? Maybe the Tech can’t handle it or is it Lucas Arts holding this for a High Definition ….That must be it, they don’t like their games in Low Rez…The Light Saber Game for Kinect is almost enough to get me to buy it, but only if it came with a wand…almost

Well, so far every title around Kinect sounds – surprise – like it would work better with a physical controller.
I just don’t buy Kinect for games at all. No controller seems like the weakest option every time.
Pretend you’re holding a steering wheel vs holding one for Mario Kart? Pretend you’re holding a lightsaber vs holding one?
Really, Kinect would work better as a camera/controller combination. But with Sony doing that with Move MS will look like they’re backpedaling on their claims if they go this route now, and validate Sony’s method.
I really think MS unveiled Kinect poorly with that over-bloated circus performance and their hyperbole for what – so far unless they redeem themselves with more game reveals during E3 – is basically a bunch of weak sounding titles.
Sorry if I sound harsh – but I was genuinely expecting more and MS only have themselves to blame for marketing in a manner to give you that impression.

@AHA-Lambda Not likely, as the character on the screen moves before the “player” does.

@29 You don’t sound harsh at all. I had my fill of Peter Molyneux telling the world that physical controllers are old hat, and Natal/Kinect are the way forward.
