MGS: Rising trailer blows minds at MS presser

MGS Rising 2

There’s a time when your jaw drops to the ground thanks to the mentalness of one game. Metal Gear Solid: Rising did that to us tonight.

Words and all are fantastic and swell, but you know the saying: seeing is believing. Watch it.

No date was mentioned by Hideo Kojima as he introduced the title for the first time. He was originally due to be a producer on the title, but he will no longer play that role: that will go to Shigenobu Matsyama.

It’s balls-to-the-walls AAA fucking awesomeness on a stick! Nathan said it was a lot “like the Afro Samurai game, if you’ve ever played it” in our livetext.

Get it below.

It’s set for release on Xbox 360, PC and PS3.

This was the best thing at Microsoft E3 Press conference. Hands down. you love Kojima games or not. It was the best thing + with joke.

Just saw this on Gametrailers, and OMG that is sooo cool. I wasn’t expecting the gameplay at the end at all. This looks to be awesome.

    @1 Completely agree.

  5. DaMan

nothing remarkable aside from a ‘Metal gear’ in the title, the concept seems repetitive as well.

Was never a huge fan of Raiden until MGS 4. It will be interesting see how this turns out. Any news on if this is before MGS 4?

    @1 – yes it so was :)

Too bad they were pimping kinect too much to get a date or anything? O_o

Konami or sony conference for that maybe?

They need to drop the solid out of the title for real. Just call it Metal Gear Rising from now on

  9. LePlatypus

It looks crap as a MGS game, it looks good as a ninja gaiden game

  10. Callum

    Jesus Christ that looks incredible.

  11. AHA-Lambda

Honestly think the series should be left alone and Kojima should look into a new IP or push another ZOE out the door.

    #12 5 years ago
  13. AHA-Lambda

    ZOE3 please kojima :(

Thats how a Lightsaber in all of the friggin Starwarsgames should’ve been. Simply awesome!

Beside that the trailer is incredible, it`s look like
    an Action Game.

This game looks incredible! Thanks Kojima for exciting me again.

Yeah it looked sweet, but without classic stealth MGS action will the whole chopping everything up in slow-mo get boring fast? Methinks probably yes.

Interesting how Kojima turns up for shits and giggles again, then quickly distances himself from the game. What is that all about? Do Konami feel that without the man himself showing his face no credence will be given to the game? Hmm.

  18. Blerk

Weird. This isn’t a Kinect/Move game, is it? Given the emphasis on ‘chopping shit up’?

  19. Phoenixblight

No it is not. That would help move the motion controls for the 360 and ps3, wouldn’t it?

  20. sg1974

This is the kind of game perfect for Move, no? Precise use of sword? Move needs something hard core, not more Wii clones and casual family stuff they already demoed.

By the way hs anyone done a three year old kid test on that glowing ball? Im think table top edge at speed…..

It’s ok, not sure why its “jaw dropping” but I digress.

    #21 5 years ago
  22. DaMan

it should’ve been a Move title really, seeing as that cut the crap thing is apparently what the game is all about.

  23. FeaturePreacher

I can’t wait to see if the in-game platforming elements are like they were at the beginning of that vid.

@ 21: I’m with you – looks nice for sure, but hardly gigatastic.

    #24 5 years ago
  25. theevilaires

It might very well be MOVE supported.

  26. The Hindle

I must be the only guy who thinks this looks shit.

I’m not particularly bothered about it either, Hindle. I seem to have lost my Metal Gear interest completely, despite enjoying the first two.

    #28 5 years ago
  29. DaMan

    Hindle: \o/ me too.

    #29 5 years ago

This has made my ‘do want’ list.

I’ve never been interested in MGS before.
