FIFA 11 video explains personality +

EA has released the first video for FIFA 11 in the shape of a new developer diary.

The video shows off the new Personality+ feature, which EA are billing as the big new addition to the game this year.

The examples shown look awesome, showing the difference between low skill and high skill players when shooting, passing, tackling and dribbling . If EA can pull off this new feature then it has the potential to take the game to the next level.

FIFA 11 is expected to release around October this year. Expect to hear more on this when EA’s conference kicks off later tonight at 2.00pm PST, 10pm BST and 11pm CET.

    If they add in the feature of creating your own team without having to buy it seperately i’ll buy this game. If they don’t i’ll stay with PES :)

    I don’t get why this is so revolutionary. Hasn’t the game been doing this for decades? And now they’ve stuck a buzzword on it?

    The goalkeeper thing looks interesting. One of the big improvements in the World Cup game is the goalkeeper especially in penalties and it seems it’s going even further here.

    Is it that black and white?

    What I mean to say is, will their be mid skilled players or will each player be lumbered into either camp.

    I would like to see these features applied to an algorithm that calculates what chance the player has of making his target in relation to his stats; rather than if he is ‘high’ or ‘low’ skilled.

    I’m sure that’s how it’s calculated anyway. The players in FIFA and PES aren’t one of three things: shit, okay or brilliant. They have stats from 0-100 and I would hazard a guess that those numbers aren’t just there for Top Trumps purposes, they’re fed into the game and the probability of a shot going in are calculated from those values.
