Episodic Jurassic Park adventure game in the works at Telltale

jurassic_park-10816

What’s more daunting than a T-Rex with teeth the size of great white sharks (who each, themselves, have larger-than-average teeth) on your tail? Well, nothing, actually.

Anyone can turn around, violently wet themselves, and shoot a T-Rex between the eyes, though. No sweat. The real question is, do you have what it takes to solve some puzzles?

If you said yes, then you might be interested in Telltale’s – who you might know from the Sam and Max and Monkey Island revivals – upcoming Jurassic Park adventure game, which… is a thing. That’s happening.

“For Jurassic Park, we will leverage Telltale’s expertise in storytelling and game design to deliver on the tension and drama of the series creating the ultimate cinematic adventure,” Telltale CEO Dan Connors told GameInformer.

The game marks the beginning of a relationship between NBC Universal and Telltale, which will see multiple NBC properties get the ones-and-zeroes treatment.

Jurassic Park’s first episode will be set loose later this year, kicking off a full “season” of episodes. But why stop there? Here’s hoping this is only a testing bed for a dinosaur RPG, dinosaur racing game, and – of course – a dinosaur open-world crime drama.

I still remember the screenshots of Jurassic Park Survival before it was canned, that looked like an interesting JP game.

Why not? Could be cool. One of the best Indiana Jones-stories is an adventure game, after all.

Ummm…am I the only one here thinking “WTF is Telltale doing with Jurassic Park?”.

Monkey Island was great. Sam & Max was OK. But Jurassic Park? What’s next? GTA V?

Studios should know what they are capable of or else they end up biting off more than they can chew.

Not that JP is a *serious* thing, but come one…they’ll go from Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures to Jurassic Park??

Smells like failure to me :)
