Gears of War 3 – new mega pre-E3 shots

looks to have a lot better lightning this time around, i’m impressed.

Massively pumped for this. Looks brilliant.

I’ve spent silly amounts of time playing and replaying Gears 1 and 2 so am really looking forward to 3. Nice to see some visual improvements, not that they were really needed.

What I would like is some expansion on Horde mode, maybe make it a little more dynamic like AvP/Nazi Zombies as it’s easy to get entrenched and spend literally hours in one spot.

Oh, and bring back Kryll and Berserkers! Lambent should mix the combat up but I really liked the change of pace that the Kryll sections brought to Gears 1.

Gadzooks i’d also love to see the return of Berserkers, though i think the kryll were supposed to have been killed off with the lightmass bomb or something. Doesn’t look like it from the screens released thus far but i would like it to return to more of a horror setting like the first! I’ll still get it no doubt and it’ll most likely be awesome, but personally i prefered Gears 1 over 2

Not a big Gears fan, so naturally I don’t get what the fuss is about.

Recently, I played through both Gears of War games’ SP campaign on hardcore and, like Pat, I’m massively pumped for a third game.

Gears 1 & 2 are probably my second favourite games this generation (they would have been top but Mass Effect 2 has taken that spot). I can’t wait to get playing Gears3 on Insane, I’m still not tired of using the Lancer to chainsaw Locust in half!

Uncharted 2 still looks better (and most likely will still play better) but this does look better than GEARS2. We have to do co op again G1GA.

Ive read a set piece includes protecting Doms vegetable patch that could be the best thing in any game this gen imo

Sorry, but I lost interest of Gears of War after Gears of War 2 came out. It will do well, so my opinion doesn’t matter very much anyway.

These shots look great to me…LOVE the added color and lighting…..Gears 2 was a bit disapointing…..maybe cause I played it AFTER God of War 3, I don’t know, just expected a bit more from Gears 2 since Gears 1 blew my socks off. Anyway, Gears 3 looks great

Uncharted and Gears are just about the same game. I’m not trying to start a flame war. Its just that UC2 is the bench mark for TPS now and until Gears3 releases and proves me other wise its will stay like that (A Fact).

At this point in Gears 3 development these screens still don’t look better than Uncharted 2.

This is basically Forza VS GT all over again.

I’m with TEA on this one. While these screenshots look great, and judging how all PR works and the history of pre-release screenshots for Gears being bullshots, they don’t look as good as Uncharted 2.

Before anyone wants to throw around the word fanboy just because they don’t like to hear anything that shatters their delusions, know that I love Gears and, from what I’ve read, TEA does too. I’m just not a big fan of the Unreal Engine 3.

Looks good of course, but I’m not seeing anything amazingly different.

Personally, unless there have been major revisions I find anything with a 3 in the title, whether game or film, to have lost the initial WoW factor and to firmly reside in the ‘more of the same’ quadrant for interest for me.

I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, but TBH I’d enjoy a great new IP more.

I just prefer new to more of the same no matter how good the same is.

Guess I’m just not one of the majority.

The technical side of this generation has come and gone. The things we can do in games this generation has been wonderful but as we progress further to the end of this generation it won’t necessarily be about game play anymore because devs will be holding out their new ideas for the next generation.

So that’s why I mainly focus on the graphics now. Gears will play like Gears. Uncharted will play like Uncharted. Devs aren’t going to fuck with the formula they know works so well the last two games. They will however add little improvements.

This generation is coming to an end by next year when M$ announces the nextbox. Unreal Engine 3 is getting old and its no surprise the makers of that engine know how to push it to the max unlike others but even still compared to the greatest TPS this gen (UC2,FAAAAAACT!) it doesn’t seem like its graphically capable of beating it.

Blame M$, blame Epic, blame SONY, blame whoever, but don’t blame me. Gears 2 was awwwwwwesome and a bag of chips. Gears 3 will be too I have no doubt.

I will bet you something though. If in another time dimension where gears was on the PS3 exclusively and we could compare that dimension’s Gears with our 360 dimension Gears that dimension would kick our dimension xbox360 Gears ass graphically up and down the streets day and night
