Split/Second producer talks explosions, being the best driver

Split/Second producer Jason Reid took time out of his busy schedule to chat with the EU PS Blog about what inspired the developers when creating the gaming content and the massive amount of explosions in it.
Reid said that when playing the racer, you need to be looking around at the different buildings rigged to blow, so as to better find opportunities to stop your opponents in their tracks and claim victory for yourself.

New PoP: The Forgotten Sands video shows off acrobatics

Ubisoft has released a new video for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands showing off the four different elemental powers our flexible hero can use to do some of his acrobatic maneuvers.
The Forgotten Sands hits May 18 and 21 in the US and UK, respectively. A PC version is slated for June 4.

Video – Mafia II developer diary

A new developer diary was released for Mafia II over on GameTrailers.
We have it posted for you below the break.
In it, you hear more the game from senior producer Denby Grace, associate producer Alex Cox, and other members of the development team.
According to Denby, you will only be able to take a couple of shots before you are dead, so you better make damn good use of the game’s cover system.
Mafia II is slated for August on PS3 and Xbox 360, and will be shown at E3 in June.

US PSN update, May 11 – BioShock 2, Nier, Batman, more

Sony updated the US end of PSN last night after we signed off, and it looks like those in the states got a pretty large update.
Other than more titles being added to the Spring Fever sale, there’s a Split/Second demo, some animal skins for Sackboy, a free melee mode for BioShock 2 called Kill ‘Em Kindly, and tons of add-on content.

Video – Dead Rising 2 MP mode first look

Over on the US PS Blog, a video featuring Capcom’s Mike Schmitt and Wes Phillips walks you through Dead Rising 2′s new multiplayer modes.
It all sounds rather exciting, and really gets us pumped for August 31 in the US, which is when the game’s expected for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
Europe gets it on September 3.
Hopefully, everyone else will be excited over the sequel, and Capcom will exceed it’s estimated sales projection of 3.0 million units sold for the title.
We know this is a PS3-centric post but just so we don’t come across as biased, don’t forget about the Dead Rising 2: Case Zero prologue which will hit exclusively on Xbox Live ahead of the game’s release.
