Sony to introduce new PSPgo sales promotion

Wednesday, 26th May 2010 16:22 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Sony’s set to announce a new promotion that it hopes will encourage sales of PSPgo, and anyone who registered their handheld after April 1 will be entitled to the offer.

The offer will allow folks to get ten full game downloads like Gran Turismo, LittleBigPlanet, FIFA 10 and GTA.

“On PSPgo we’ve decided to innovate with that particular business model,” SCE UK director Mark Howsen told MCV. “Next month we’re launching a free ten game offer. And this isn’t just older titles – we’ve worked with third parties and there’s some really good core products.

“We’re using it as a method to drive the hardware as well by making the whole proposition much more appealing”.

The new deal is similar to the one Sony had around Christmas, and the other PSPgo offer back in February.

An exact date on the deal is expected to be announced soon.

What are they doing? Why can’t they cut the price?

    Sony are morons.

What’s the point of it all when the PSP2 is being announced this year (i hope).

Price is the single biggest issue with PSPgo, I think. Price for the hardware and price of the games.

I agree – If they can get the PSP Go’s price to £100 – £110, then it’d fly off the shelves.

They probably don’t want to cut the price because they are losing money per PSPgo sold like it was with old PS3s. And just wouldn’t admit it.

10 games!!? You actually have to give away 10 games away for nothing to try and sell this thing?? WOW! Just wow! >_>

Sony should be giving the system away, free, with every packet of Corn Flakes as it’s the only way they’ll move the system.

haha. i just spent an hour or so on youtube scanning for ds and psp gameplayvideos because i was thinking about getting a handheld again…had em both. sold em both. enjoyed the launch psp for a while but then got bored…i really really crave for a solid handheld, but ds and psp have both too many flaws for me to like them. i was hoping for ms to show off something but then it only was zune hd…i still hope they´ll enter the handheld market one day soon with a slick and stylish little maschine with red, blue, green and yellow buttons on it, two analogsticks, some solid bumpers and a nice rough white finish…just like some of the mock ups in the net…i really love some of these designs. especially these 2 – yea you all know but anyway:

PSP Go needs a HUGE micro Hard Drive, around 500 gigs if they want me to buy it. Plus Memory sticks are massively expensive, which they shouldn’t be. An 8 Gig Third Party Sans Card runs $50.00 US!
