G4 to broadcast half-hour blowout on Old Republic, Valve presser to be shown live

G4′s announced its plans for E3, including a massive half-hour blowout on Star Wars: The Old Republic.

X-Play host and G4′s editor-in-chief of games Adam Sessler is obviously stoked for what’s to be shown from the BioWare MMO in two-and-a-half weeks.

“Never before have we granted so much time to one game at E3,” he said. “Star Wars: Old Republic is a game of such breadth that the excitement around it and the time we are dedicating to it will have a huge pay-off for the viewers.”

As well as the blowout on the MMO, the broadcaster also plans to show five major press conferences live, including Valve for the first time ever, with over 25 hours worth of content planned for the channel throughout E3 week, 40 hands-on demos and more.

Please hurry up, E3. The wait’s killing us.

The party kicks off on June 15, and lasts until June 17.

Thanks, Ripten.

Microsoft has their own deal with MTV, right? That may have put a few noses out of joint!

The MTV deal’s only for the Natal thing iirc, I don’t think they’ll stop people filming the proper press conference. I seem to remember watching a bit of the Sony conference live on G4 last year, it worked pretty well.

ok, but looking at the Ripten article, it’s clear that Microsoft is NOT one of the five press conferences that G4 will broadcast, so I was looking for the most likely explanation.

G4′s mostly rubbish when it comes to streaming E3 conferences tbh.

E3 2008 was a learning experience, lets just say.

I’m excited to watch Valves conference

Although I don’t really want to spend five hours hunched over my laptop again like last year (although thats half the fun) Will we be able to download them in HD from anywhere?

They’re usually archived for view on-demand, soon after (+3-6 hrs from the live feed), but you may need a free login to specifically download it.

As far as I know, G4′s not showing live the Valve presser online, just on TV only. Everything else yeah, but not Valve. :/

@9 But said crowbar will be beautifully lit and modelled in the new Source engine so it’ll be great… ;)

whats Valve like for dropping news about upcoming games compared to the games actual release. They only just revealed portal 2 with a 2010 Q4 release window. I would hope that if they showed anything half life, the game would be out within a year…as in we’d get it before gears of war 3

whats with all this shit

11 months before its release date?
